Do they sound like "Poulan Poulan, poulan Poulan POOOOOOUUUUUUUUULLLLLLAAAAAAAANNNNNN!!!!!" when you run one?

Obviously, the first portion is where the Poulan is idling, and the war cry is when it's cutting at WFO. Is this an accurate sound description?

Wow... I bet you'd rather work on a Mini Mac...

Oh, I knew it, alright...

I just had to do it...

I knew 90% of you, especially you MM, would throw one away ASAP after receiving one...

Hell, don't seem like many of you even like Macs to begin with... I have a solution... I''ll send you all of the Poulans I have and get (minus the 3000 and good series) and you send me all of the old Macs you find (minus the Mini Macs that have to be taken apart completely to work on)

Sound good? I know it does for me... :D

I think I got him (joe25DA) all mad and he went to the dump to find one to bring home and throw against the wall of his shop...

Wow, sounds decent... for me...

You would've received a WoodShark with a broken rear handle, a partially torn down top handle WoodShark, and a unidentified Poulan carcass... lol.

Future sendings are not guaranteed. :D I may port and muffler mod the rest I get... and sell some of them to unsuspecting homeowners on CL... :ices_rofl: Lol, it'd probably show back up on CL for less that what I sold it for, and I'll go get it and resell it...

Who in NY did you send them to? Paul Teutel?

He'd be like "What the #### is this ####?" and throw the whole box at Mikey...

Alright guys, I'll stop ####ting in your thread... for now, anyways.

Dammit Kyle. Stop coming 'round the Green shop, pissing in thier pool and giving us McCulloch nuts a bad rap.:sucks:

I got a better idea, you could just go hang out in the Mac thread! :hmm3grin2orange:

He get's on our nerves over in the McCulloch thread as well Mark. Don't you Green boys go using him as a poster child for us Yelow Fever guys...:msp_unsure:

He's been spanked in the Yellow thread...

Nahh then Id have to clean up a mess! I dont have anything against Macs either. But I have passed on that model more than once, along with Homelite super2's and 330s. As far as Im concerned there is really only one saw in that class and thats the S25DA. The others just cant match up in quality, construction, durabilty, ease of repair and the biggest part..performance. That goes for the newer saws in that class as well.

I agree completely Joe. I'm a Homelite and McCulloch nut, as well as being fond of the REAL Poulans. As I've stated on AS before, the XXV Poulan series are far and away the BEST top-handle saw family ever produced by any manufacturer...........PERIOD. I have one mini-mac that will stay with me (a PM320), but that's ONLY because it was my Dad's saw, and the first saw I ever ran. Got enough parts to build one running mini-mac 110/130 saw (through various dealings where I HAD to take 'em to get the good stuff), and will likely drop that box of misery on someone else's doorstep at some point. I have one XL2 family saw (a Homelite XL Automatic) that I will also keep because it was given to me by a member here, and my Wife has taking a shining to it. I have an arborist buddy who loves his MS200T saws, but he can keep 'em. I hate working on the damn things...

Fear not Pard!
No way we will try to blame that on you Mac guys any more than we want you to blame us for it!
The only reason we let him hang out around here is that it's fun to slap him around once in a while.
He is kinda like those dog peter gnats, more of an aggrevation than anything!!!LOL

You would have earned that load of wood with it. Looks as heavy and slow as a old homelite zip saw.

Ken, believe me, I can see where your would think that it would be heavy and slow.

Theres no denying the heavy part, there about 20-21 lbs or so but in comparison the PM1000 I just got is over 20lbs. The slow part may have you fooled though. I know when I first got my 71-A up and running I thought the same thing about it just cutting some small stuff with it just for a trial run.

I got a completly new outlook on it when we cranked it up at the Poulan GTG last year. With a 31" bar buried in hard Oak, the thing just wouldnt slow down. It cuts 30" wood the same speed as 10" wood. No joke!

Another thing that makes em sound slow it the governor on the HL carb, at no load it kicks it in pretty quickly. Once in the wood and pulling I think it turns faster!

Now I'm talking my 92cc 71-A the 53-A is its little brother, that is if you can call 82cc little. :) I think really that the 53-A will act alot like the 71-A as well.

There neat old sandcast saws I think..

It was a strong puller for sure! I think I was the only dumbazz there that did'nt wear any hearing protection while I was running it...

Need an Education

Looking for a cylinder for my WildThing 4018WM. Looking at the saws that this cylinder fits I see that everything from a 3314 to 4218 use the same cylinder. Looking further they all use the same piston and crank. Question: If everything is the same how does one get from 34cc to 42cc? I thought the stroke would be differant but they all use the same crankshaft assembly? You think the advertised cc's are incorrect?
Bob

If you look at the sticker below the choke lever they all say 42cc.The only difference is the bar?

They aren't all 42cc I have some 36 or 38cc pistons and jugs here. I think they used what was coming down the line at the time.

I hate to just pop in here, but I promised my friend Jim I'd post this picture, not too many of these floating about...
