HEY!!! Never happened..unless ya got pics & videos! :D:D:D Or. does what happens in Indiana, stay in Indiana?

Gregg,

I found PROOF that Sears/Craftsman built and sold a red S25-CVA.

Now to find the saw. I found that model # by tweaking my Craftsman 2.1A (Poulan 25DA) Sears model #. My saw is 358.350940. The S25-CVA (called a Craftsman 2.3PS/VL according to the decal in the IPL) Sears # is 358.350960. The saw I handled decades ago was non-PS if my memory doesn't fail me. That would mean there's another model # out there (or somebody had swapped on a non-PS clutch cover).

Aaron, I have seen that saw before, but not often. I'll keep my eyes peeled for one for ya.

You may have found PROOF that Sears sold that saw, but I don't think you will EVER be able to show me where they built it!!!LOL

Poulan 25

Picked up a Poulan Deluxe Super 25 that was cosmetically in excellent shape for $15.00. Installed new fuel line and it started up on the third pull. Runs fantastic. I believe this saw has only the manual oiler.
Now I've got an S25DA, S25CVA and this one.

Dammit Mike. I was hoping nobody'd catch that. As soon as I posted it, I realized my goof..............but there's no way to edit the title anymore as the "go advanced" editing function doesn't work now. You guys usually post more here and I was hoping it'd be back a page or more in short order (and therefore hidden). Then Mark quoted me (bringing it forward again). Well.................they did "have it built" for them...................so....ah nevermind...:dizzy:

It's all good my friend!
I (as well as the rest of the regulars) knew what you meant. I just had to have a bit of sport with ya!!LOL
I have to give Sears some credit. They USED to really do their homework before putting their name on a "farmed out" product.
There was a time when, if it said Sears (or one of their private labels ..ie Kenmore, Craftsman etc.) you could rest assured that it was top quality!
Even the Roper saws that were built for them are AMAZINGLY tough, and many of them are running just as good today as they did the day they were purchased.

Thanks Mike. I knew you were just messing with me a bit.:jester:

I also agree about Sears. I worked for Sears Service through must of the '90s, and watched the change. The bean counters were too damn stupid to realize that Sears had a large, extremely valuable repeat-customer base that would ONLY buy stuff from Sears, due to the quality of the products and the backing they received. This base had been built up over several generations. We (those of us in service) tried to tell the admin types that when they'd come visit. They never listened. Only were interested in reducing costs.

Gradually, Sears started putting thier name on more chinese crapola. At first, they would put "Sears" on the crap, while reserving the private lables (Craftsman, Kenmore, etc) for the good (and more expensive) stuff. Now that K-mart owns them, that's out the window. The service cernter I worked at (which had been in opperation since the '60s) has been closed for a decade. Same for several other service centers in the region. Things are totally restructured. Sad really....

Poulan / Craftsman 3.3

Hello I agree Eccentric about Sears customer service, I bought a brand new Craftsman 3.3 (poulan 3300) in 1992, I cut Tons of firewood with it that year, Great saw it was cheap and never failed. I had a muffler bolt loosen up and melt the top plastic cover, I took it to Sears service center expecting issues but HOPE!!! The guy send he'd order a new one free of charge under muffler warranty. But he also told me to take the saw home and use it because he was giving me a new cover off a display saw so I'd have no down time. He said he'd mail the new one to me and I could keep both!!! Now this was 1992
I still have that saw in my collection and the melted cover and the new one. He said those saws were great 55cc saw ( I didn't believe him) I was so impressed by that act with the covers that I returned 2 weeks later and bought the display saw he gave me the cover off of. I believe the saw was $159.00, I still have it with only 2 hours on it. I rarely use them now but they were my first saws and I used and abused the first one and it is still going. I should have listened and bought more there the blacksheep of saws, cheap and can say I've had two for almost 20 years.
I can't get Sears service center to order anything and won't go back anymore, its all made in China Refurb now, with pushy sales people.
Whats happening???????????

Nothing. Its already happened. Call it what you want, blame it on the consumer, WalMart, blah, blah, but its over.
Remember waiting a few days for your catalog order? Tell that to kids today, and see what happens. Have them sit and look at catalog for an hour making out a Christmas list, they can't stay focused that long either.
I saw genuine Craftsman tools at Menards the other day. Now I can buy them in at least 4-5 places; when Grandpa bought his, they came in the mail or to the catalog store. He chewed my fanny when I went after working at his place one day and drove to Mankato (about 30 miles) to buy a Craftsman hammer. I should have ordered it and picked it up in town (15 miles) when I got there later in the week.
People wonder why they don't have any time any more.

I heard someone say the other day that Sears is a financial company with merchandise on their shelves..

Bob off the top of my head that can not be. If its a "Super" 25 it will be 38cc and a auto oiler.
