Yes that one is SUPER easy!

Look at the front of the muffler.
See those tubes that the bolts go into?
Take a pair of pliers and pull one of those tubes straight out.
Put the biggest washer that will fit through the hole where the tube used to be on the bolt.
Bolt the muffler back on the saw.

haha,i realy like you.I didn't think something like this. With the diffuser i can't do anything right?

Another 3000

Well I picked up another 3000. First saw I didn't have to tear apart. Started right up, idles and runs at wot great. Comp is 155 so all I did was pull the muffler and mod it. Opened diffuser slightly and added a ModifiedMark extra exhaust port. Saw was run at a 30/1 mix so I cleaned out the carbon in the muffler. Tachs at 12,500. I know I've heard of others getting to 13,500 But I'm uneasy about the possibilty on running it too lean. I'll post pictures later and try to have them open in the post. Haven't had any luck so far, though.

What he said. Although 4000s aren't that great of a saw, it just doesn't have the power a 64cc saw should. I'm working on removing them from everyone to save them the same heartache I have experienced. So send me your address and I will pick it up from you.

You beat me to it Nick. I was still mulling over the wording of my own "3700 and 4000 Poulans are crap.................send them to me for disposal" post...:D

2150

Got my first 2150 going good finally. Cleaned it and got it running fair yesterday with some new lines, but then found out it didn't oil. So, took all that oiler jazz apart and cleaned it, pulled the coil off to get to the air vent thing, that was garbaged out as well, sprayed that down and blasted it with the air compressor until I saw bubbles in the oil tank. Did a ream out job on the holes in that muffler spacer, opened the two slots more at the top. She runs and cuts good now, and finally slinging some oil. Did up a pile of branches with it today.

It's like the other similar wild thing, you have to go past two turns out on the adjusters. I still need to tweak that a little more since my high tech muff mod ;)

Hey, this thing came with like...tiny skip chain. Every other link is a cutter, and zero anything but a cutter and depth gauge, no additional ramps or anything like that.. Tiny, says 91 on the drivers, whatizzit? I had to hunt to find a small file that kinda sorta fits it.

edit: I just looked at chain profiles at oregon site, I guess it is 91vx. That's the closest looking. Weird though a 5/32 file just seemed too darn big. Oh well.

In addition to Nick's comment.....

Actually,
You would be considered most gracious, if you threw it out the window at the falls creek exit of I-80 in PA. You see then, my sister could retrieve it for me. You probably don't want the hassle of
trying to use that old dinosaur to cut wood with anyway......;) Better yet, my dads friend hauls
Corona from the mexico border to upstate NY twice a week. Do you like Corona? Do you have a
forklift?:givebeer:

I thought everybody knew that the Old Poulan saw Shelter, or Orphanage was here in Ohio.;) Will take in abused & neglected Poulan saws, give them a bath, proper medical treatment, and love, with proper exercise. There are 4 other once neglected, homeless 4000's here all ready. So another one would fit in and have company.

Will also take in their older & bigger siblings also. They are usually harder to find homes for.:msp_sneaky: But here, they ALL receive the same attention and love they deserve.

P.S. Will take donations also... Costs money to run a Poulan saw sanctuary & retreat.:D

Gregg,

If Poulan would have put a decent piston and cylinder on it like the WildThings, then they would have had a winner.

LOL:D:yoyo::ices_rofl:

Mmmmm, Corona.....:givebeer:

Gregg,

Do you take them out in the yard on sunny weekends? Does the family and friends come to visit?
What night is bingo?

Yes!! Here is proof of that! And usually once a year, we have family visits & or GTG's for other Poulan saw sanctuary owners.:D

Some of those sanctuary owners, like that one in NW Indiana, I'm surprised aren't facing charges of "Overcrowding" !!:msp_rolleyes:

Gregg,

My dad just bought a 3316 or something like that last fall and it had a strange little chain on it also. Not like the ones he had for the 2300 that he burned up.

Nick

Man, I think you guys would laugh your butts off if I showed up to a GTG. I would need to grow a beard or buy some bibs! I would probably even bring the wrong kind of beer. At least beer is beer, right?

Bar oil leaking from air vent

Poulan guys,

Got a PP4018 that is leaking bar oil through the oil air vent hole... Is that a common occurance on these saws.

The air vent tube seems to be wide open... I can stick a WD40 tube into it quite a ways. I would have thought there to be something on the end of it to stop oil from just coming out. Thoughts?

Thanks,

Ed
