Why you ole dog, the old crappy lookin ones still outnumber the pretty ones by a wide magin!!

That 245A that you ran last summer wasnt much to look at but it sure would run wouldnt it? :):givebeer:

Why wont it fit? Wont fit in the slot or what? Lots of Stihls that I have seen all come with .063 chains so are you sure is a .050 gauge chain?

All I know that is if you have a .050 3/8s 76dl chain it will fit that saw.
No its not .063. Maybe its just paint buildup in the groove, the bar is new.

I agree Mike !! Those are probably better than NEW! I'm ashamed of my my old odd colored junks now:cry: LOL Excellent job Mark. I guess Sublime paint is what I need to be looking for, for sure. I know pictures can be deceiving, but I honestly think they look the same. If I saw one by it self, I'm sure I couldn't tell.

Gregg,

I always wondered why the S25 series saws never came with dawgs/bucking spikes since these were regarded as a pro saw of their time. I also wondered what the 2 little holes next to the bar adjust were for. Well I figured it out. Turns out Poulan DID offer a spike or "spur" as they call it. I found a NOS one the other day. I must say looks cool on the saw! The only problem was getting 25 years of saw dust mixed with sap out of the threads. Now i just need a bad a$$ sugi bar like Ohiogreggs! Check it out.
Hid for 25 years

Nice Joe! I've never seen those spikes for the 25's. I have noticed all 3 of mine have the mounting holes though. They must not have been popular on them, cause ya sure don't see them. Good find!

Gregg,

I'm sure you couldnt tell either, in fact alot of my original Poulans are a little different shade. They must fade different.

BTW did you get that 380 up and running yet?

Yes, just got it together and running! Havn't tried it in wood yet, but seems like its gonna be great running saw. Ugly as all get out, it had a rough life, but she is back and running strong. I'll get some pics of it one of these days. Lousey weather.

Gregg,

I have a couple of 3700's that I would like new decals for .Does anybody have a source ?

I'm in the process of trying to make some myself. Will see what I can come up with and what they look like. LOL I might be waisting my time, but we'll see. If they come out half decent, I'll just send ya a set.
You can find em for the 3400, but never seen a set for the 3700 or 4000's.

Gregg,

Gregg could you let me know what settings your scanner is set at on these decals ?

Well, not really using the scanner, I took photos of some of my crappy ones, and then painting/altering them with some photo software I downloaded.
I been playing with an old scanner also some on a set of 3400 decals I have.
I think a setting of 300-600 dpi is more than enough. I tried one at 1200dpi, and the files come out so huge their allmost impossible to work with.
I'm still playing around with this,

Gregg,

I just wanted to make sure before I pulled the trigger on some bulk oil line. 1/8" ID is what I need right, Tygon? Does it matter what the OD is?

I forgot to mention, this is for my Poulan 3400.

That is a good match, Mark, and you did a great job! Was that acrylic polyurethane auto paint you had mixed or enamal and do you have the paint code? I'm sure you said before but my memory fails me.

Not sure of size but I'd take a piece to a good autoparts store and ask for oil pressure gauge line. If you notice, the 3400 oil lines are very stiff and thick. Not sure if tygon will work, plus you'll need to add compression fittings. It might be too soft for the fittings.

Not the output line, it's still good. I'm talking about the pickup line that attaches to the filter.

Ok. I believe 1/8 ID might work as the oil filter fitting is a little under 5/32
(.156 in).OD. Actually my caliper measured the filter od at .146 in. You may have some work to get the stiffening spring on, if you intend to re-use the old one.
