He lists NOS parts for big money. When his auctons run out he doesn't relist the parts either. I had some of his listings in my watch list (mostly 25CVA AV mounts and some 200/300 series gaskets). All ended and gone now, without anyone buying them. He also has a Craftsman 2.1A listed TWICE, for two different crazy prices. Same pictures, and same serial numbers...

USED VINTAGE SEARS / POULAN 2.1A / S25 CHAINSAW WITH A 14" BAR & CHAIN L@@K NICE | eBay

I did buy some piston rings from him that I thought were fairly priced. I checked everybody on ebay out and he was the only one selling what I wanted at the time...actually one set was for a poulan 2.1. Seem to be working fine. I always price the item plus the shipping and compare to see who offers the best deal.

he also doesnt know much about what hes selling cause that 2.1 is no S25.

Educate me a little on that saw because I thought the 2.1 Craftsman was a 25 Poulan. What's the difference? I mean other than the color, decals, etc. I have a Dayton 2z573A which I bought 2.1 Poulan rings for and they fit perfectly and it's very similar to my Craftsman 2.1 saws. Thanks

OK, can somebody PM me about who this Calvin guy is so I don't get hosed?

Nick

He used to be a sponsor here if I remember correctly and sold parts to the AS guys. If I remember correctly he had trouble with knowing just what he had and what he didn't, kinda like he needed to take an inventory and catalog what he had.

Calvin wasn't a bad guy just kinda hard to keep in focus.
My worst complaint was that he had part numbers and no clue as to what they fit.

I'll bet he sent LITERALLY 2 dozen emails to me and ModifiedMark asking what saws a particular part would fit.

You are correct. A 2.1 is a 25 (and a 2.1A is a 25DA). The problem is that guys call a 2.1 a S25 (Super 25). The Super 25 is 38cc/2.3ci. A 'regular' 25 is 34cc/2.1ci. Bore diameter is different between the two models. DA is "Deluxe Automatic". Means it has a manual oiler and an automatic oiler. Guys on ebay (and elsewhere) mix up 25, S25, and the 'D' and 'A' designations all the time. They also mix up the 25/XXV series saws we're talking about here with the Micro series. That situation wasn't helped with Poulan's use of "25" and "XXV" and "Super" in both the XXV series and Micro series saws at times. There is a "Micro XXV" and a "S-25 Micro". Neither has anything to do with the 25/XXV series other than parts of their names, the spark plugs, and the bar mount patterns....

He used to email and PM me questions about Homelite and McCulloch parts too.

good grief. i think i need to put together some labled pics for myself to keep that straight.

some of the confusion is likely because of acres. it states that the 2.1 is based on the 25DA, regardless of model (CRAFTSMAN 2.1) and then states the 2.3 PS (super? power saw?) is based on the 25DA PS (CRAFTSMAN 2.3 PS)

Even understanding those errors (now), they list the Deluxe Micro XXV as a 2.3... is that right or is it a 2.0 like the rest of the micros?

I can't find the super micros yet on acres.

And yes the Deluxe Micros are 2.3 (38cc)

Its not so bad. Once you know what tolook for youll be able to I.D. a saw in 2 seconds, its all in the details. We are crazy here, there were 2 shades of green on these, black or red triggers, 2 different carbs, PS, CVA, DA, 25, S25DA.....its fun.

Thank you. I feel more educated already and I've only started the day! I'm sure the general public has no idea what the difference is between all these saws. Looks like Poulan might have saved some money by just offering one model rather than changing them so often, but what do I know about it? Homelite did it also with the small (and large) XL series.

OK, now I am slightly less confused about the XXV/25/S25/DA variants, but still unsure of what I am looking at unless I measure bore and find an auto oiler or not. Am I correct in thinking the Super varieties had the metal toggle kill switch? And the 34cc models had a sliding kill switch? Most of the ones I see have no bars on them, so I can't reference that at all(and I only put 14" on them, for pruning and small limbs). Does the color mean anything or is that just and indicator of the production timeframe?
