Aaron, I got stopped by a cop in Venice Beach(that was my first problem) a few years ago for J walking on a side street where there was no traffic. He made me cross back across the street and walk down to the crosswalk 200 yards away to use it while he waited in his car in the middle of the street.

California(at least the southern 1/3) is just a bunch of freaks. Sorry if I offend anyone with that comment.

Nick

YEP!!!!

I'm offended!

I've got a lot of friends that are freaks and none of them are nearly as bad as a BUNCH of Southern California folks!!!LOL

Hey guys.....uhmmmm.......can someone tell me how to change the settings so I don't get the e-mail notification for threads I've posted on? I've looked at settings and stuff but I can't find the button to turn it off......

Sooo.... What's a pretty hammered looking 5200 worth if the piston isn't fried. I want to buy one locally, but it's one of those "you tell me what it's worth" deals and it's actually someone I need to pay a fair price;). I'm ok with ugly, cause I want to use it. He also has some BIG Mac saws and not the kind with special sauce either.
I have been pining for a 5200 for a while now and Mark and that stinkin newish bow saw got me on the hunt again.
(American content only:rock:)

I usually pick this series of saw up for between $25.00 and $75.00, although I did pay $200.00 for a good 8500. Parts saws are cheaper again. I find very few people realise that not all Poulans are cheap saws. Interestingly I have never seen a fried piston in these saws - wonder if it was because Poulan recommended a fuel mix of 16:1?
You will like that saw, great fun to use and easy to work on. And don't pass up a 4900 as they are good runners too.

GET THAT DAMN SAFETY CHAIN OFF OF IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you think it cuts good now wait till you try some real chain on it.
I did a little modifying to this chain with my Foley grinder. It's no longer as "safe" as it was when it was made. I hate to see a good chain go to waste. We had some pretty bad storms blow through this morning with high winds and very heavy rain. Didn't make to the woods today. I got caught up on some shop work today.

Storms! We have had ten inches of rain in two days. Lots of trees down so the saws will get a run this weekend.

This my driveway today.

Not one to judge but clearing 20 acres will take years to re generate. Gotta be a better way.
Regenerate?? This is a strip coal mine, not under ground. The area we are working is going to made into a settlement lake for slurry. In four or five years it will probably be growing corn or soy beans after it is reclaimed. The DNR has very strict regulations pertaining soil and conservation with the aftermath of strip mining coal. I agree there is a better way, a couple D-11's and a couple 330 excavators would work well, but they are all busy pushing spoil in the active pits and top soil in areas that have been mined.

Nardoo, it looks like you have some beautiful land down under. Hope the rain subsides and you can enjoy your summer. I can't lie, I'm very jealous of the warm weather. I'd offer you a beer, but you are 10 million miles away and Fosters probably isn't what you drink(its the only Austrailian beer I know of).

Nick,
Come and visit Oz, you may never want to go home.
I just had a beer (Fosters is good but we have some of the best beers in the world) and I am on my first glass of South Aust cab sav. We have good wines here too!
I home brew a double Guinness based on a Coopers recipe that is absolutely guarranteed to relax the most stressed and worn out man. I call it Poulan Poison and my boys call me a silly old f**t. They will drink a little but prefer the softer beers. I guess their palates will improve with age like their father's did!
We have nice land here and lots of it. Across to the left of the second pic a big euc has come down across my boundary fence. That will be a job for Saturday and I would like to use the little 3000 but the weather is still bad and I may not get to it. To be honest I am still having a ball with a couple of 3400's I restored a few months ago and they will get the nod. (Running them is like going back in time as I had a new one in 1982.) I also have a Masterminded 026 here which is great fun but it is just not green enough. Also got a fine little 5000 Partner that is just plain neglected so I will have to decide on Saturday.

I just now noticed you have BrianS' 3400. Great thread, looked at it a million times when i was fixing my clutch cover.. He's a heck of a craftsman, would LOVE to see that saw in person.

Wow, big storms on opposite sides of the planet. 10 inches is a lot. Most I have seen here is six inches in 4 hours (two years ago), that made some serious flooding down in the lower pastures. Completely wiped out the fencing, four feet of mud an debris on it when it finally receded. Took me a week to dig that out and rebuild it.

Well, have as much fun as you can cutting. Get something positive from it.

Not too bad right here Nick, thanks for asking.
A few miles north, south or west of here got some pretty bad stuff, especially to the north.
Just a LOT of rain and gusty wind here.
