Can I get the duckbill and star washer from Sears? What model number is good for that?

Carl let me scare up the Sears model # for the 3.6-20. That's the red rebadged Poulan 306A with a 20" bar. The current Poulan # for the duckbill is 530026119. You should be able to find that part number as 26119 on the Sears site. The old number for these was 530023166. IIRC, it's not stocked any more. Why do you need another star washer? Didja loose/break yours? You can get those duckbills (using the current number) from feebay and from your local Husqvarna dealer. Probably can get the star washers from them too..................and the shipping won't be a million dollars like it is from Sears...

Edit:

The duckbill is available from Sears using the 530026119 number. It's spendy, and you have to deal with their outragous shipping though.

358.353610 is the Sears model number for the Poulan 306A. I only see the gas cap (as an assembly) and the cap gasket listed. No star washer or duckbill in the diagram. The duck bill DOES come up with a part number search. I can't find the star washer in my Poulan IPL's (to use the # in a sears search) right now either. Only complete fuel caps.

I just called my local Husky dealer. They have one of the 530026119 duckbills (labled as a Husky part but with the same #) for $4.19 with tax. More than it should be (I can get 10 Homelite duckbills for $15 shipped on feebay), but at least it's local. I'll grab it today when I do my errands and use it in my 306A so it can be in the 'runner' stable right now. Otherwise, I'd bore out the star washer for the larger Homelite duckbills (which I have already). May use Homelite duckbills for my future Poulan duckbill needs unless I can find a cheaper source of Poulan duckbills.

They're on feebay for $1.29 plus $3.55 shipping. If I can get a bag of 10 of 'em from that seller for $1.29/unit plus a SINGLE shipping charge of $3.55, then I'll do that and not waste time drilling out star washers for the Homelite 69451 duckbills. One of my large frame McCullochs came to me with a gas cap that had been refitted with a Poulan duckbill (inside a piece of fuel tubing to take up the space). The Mac duckbills are only available NOS, and are much larger than the Homelite and Poulan duckbills. Smallest is the Poulan part, followed by the Homelite and then the Mac part. I'll have to shoot a pic of the green Poulan duckbill in the Mac cap. works fine....

Aaron: This is for the 38cc top handle fuel tank lid.

I have the 10 for 14.95 Homie duckbills bookmarked on evilbay.

I'll look at the Sears site. What I wanted is an equivalent Craftsman model number. Don't have any badged that way anymore.

Got him sold to a fellow north of town.

The 306A I got yesterday is JUNK! but complete.

Make a good parts source.

Carl.

The Poulan 47 is a runner of sorts. Loud enuff to wake the dead. It can be recycled into a paint shaker.

Must have a governor in the carb.

Will try to cut with it maybe tomorrow.

Taking Wifey to K.C. to play the penny slots.

Carl that duckbill part # is good for the XXV and Micro Poulans (and others of the era) as well. The star washer should be the same too. Is the air filter on that 306A in good shape? If you're not in need of it, I'd be interested in trading for it. Why Poulan made that goofy shaped domed filter with the "dogleg" on the right rear for this saw series I don't know. Probably because this series is too damn good, and they didn't want to risk it being perfect!:D

Sure that shape gives it a tad more surface area than a flat/square filter...........but come on. I have 70 and 82cc saws with smaller flat/square filters (which are easy to make filters for out of "maxflo' material). They breath fine. I wish Poulan had extended the sides of the carb box to where they were just over the level of the carb (which would have eliminated the need for a domed filter), and made the filter square (not used the 'dogleg') Heck, if they'd just used the same filter as what the had for the 361/401/451/etc saws then I'd be happier. Those filters are cheap/easy to get. Last one of these 200/300 filters that I saw on feebay went for $29 plus shipping.....:msp_unsure:

Carl my Craftsman 2.1A (poulan 25DA) is 358.350940. Play around with 358.3509XX (put different numbers in the "X" spots) to find different saws). I'm on the hunt for a Craftsman red S25-CVA. That'd be a 358.35060 for the Power Sharp version, and 358.350961 for the non-PS (I'd prefer non-PS, but ain't picky there). There are several more XXV series Sears model #'s. They changed the number for saw with different length bars, with/without electronic ignition, with/without PS, etc...

I just picked up an orange one that I am going through now . I don't see many of the green ones either.

I agree that the green 3700's are rather rare and the craftsmans are alot more popular...around here anyhow and even on ebay for that matter. 3400's are plentiful though.

Just sold one of the craftsman 3.7's. Looking for a green one the red ones are very common IMO.

I also have a gray one with the same Craftsman part number. Guess it's a 3.7 also.

Aaron, I saw one like you're describing at the flea market last week, it was a Red Power Sharp saw, didn't look at the chain though, many are changed over. I didn't take it because I have several 25s now and they're kinda hard to sell, didn't even price it. I didn't know anyone was trying to find one. I'll keep those numbers with me and if they still have it next week I'll pick it if the price isn't too crazy.

Ill agree with that as well. There were 3 types of Craftsman "3700s": red/black saws with chrome bore and thin rings, red black saws with chrome piston and thick rings, and gray/black saws with chrome piston and thick rings. The thick ring saws should actually be classified as 3800s.
Heres mine;

It's amazing to me that the general public doesn't think much about those kind of saws when we on AS know how good they are. I guess that's okay because we can still buy them for cheap. I bought all 4 of mine for $30 or less (each),

I've had 4-5 of each the red 3.7 and the grey and black in the past but only 2 of the green 3700's. I agree that the thick ring chrome piston saws are 3800's.

That's cheap enough!!

He be a Poulan 47.

What is the 'normal' compression on one of these?

Took a lot of tinkering but now the recoil catchs. Pumps 110 psi with a nice blue spark.

Now to dump the rancid old fuel and find the carb. under all the cast aluminum.

Would this have come with .404 chain?

Great OLD find there! I have one just like that. Cantankerous old beast. Mine happened to have 3/8 chain on it. Can't really tell ya what they might have come with it. I'm sure Mark might know, if anybody here does.
I'm trying to upload an old video of mine. The only time I ever tried it out. Played with it till I got i running, and havn't touched it since. Some day when I'm feeling ambitious, I should get it out and work on it some more.

I'm not exactly sure of the cc of these things. I have run Mark's model 71A, and this ain't close to that, in my opinion.
I believe that is like 92cc. I'm guessing the 47 is more like 80cc. Someone once said they thought they put a smaller top end on these. Have fun with it! Yes they are kinda loud. Not nearly as loud as a 71A though.:hmm3grin2orange:

Gregg,

Here is the video of my old Poulan 47. Part way through, I made a couple adjustments, and it seemed to run a little better. I don't think I would want to do all my woodcutting with one of these, but I suppose it would have beat using an old misery whip, or an ax. I just can't get excited about getting it out and trying more with it. Neat old piece of history though.

Gregg,

Thanks Gregg.

I'm really in the dark on this model 47 as Acres don't give much, not even what spark plug to use.

Mine has near new loop of .404" on a Windsor 20" hard nose. Needs one driver taken out.

Will run him in the wood Saturday morning.

Got to go to bed.

Was it rigid (like a S25DA) or was it a Counter Vibe version (like an S25-CVA....but red)? The CV version is what I'm looking for. I already have a 2.1A (red 25DA) thanks to a generous member here. Certainly wouldn't turn down a 2.3A (S25DA) or a green Poulan version, but they're much much easier to find than the red CV version (so they're not a 'high priority' for me). I have a green S25-CVA and a parts saw already. If the saw you speak of is the CV version and you can get it cheap enough, I'd sure appreciate it if you'd pick it up for me.

I'm not real sure which version it was because I wasn't really looking for another 25, I do remember it was red and I noticed the little knob on the clutch side for the self sharpener. I never liked the self sharpening saws so I didn't look at it much. I will next time though. The nice thing about that place is, the asking price isn't always the selling price...
