Remember to say a prayer for Mike (RMS61Moparman), he's in surgery today.

That's in very nice shape.
I picked up one over the weekend to play with. The price was right, but it does need an oil pump.
I know they are a cheap saw, but it didn't seem that bad. Why do people bash these things so hard? Are they really junk, or do people like to rag on them because they are a cheap homeowners saw?
they're cleaning out an artery in his leg.
Those aren't the most desireable saws on the planet but there are worse ones than the Wild Thing, I've had a few. The oil pump isn't too hard to change on that model but you have to remove the clutch, which really isn't all that bad. I recommend using the rope trick to hold the crank still rather than a piston stop. I saw what a piston stop can do recently.
The Wild Thing that I prefer is the 2375 model, don't know what that one is you have but it looks to be in great shape.

All went well with the surgery and RMS61Moparman is recovering nicely! Thank God.
I sought out this model as a collector item, not really to use. It had only made a few cuts and was like new.
Collectors like stuff that looks new verses saws that have been restored. ( I already had hundreds of saws).
Did you ever say to yourself I wish I still had that saw or car I had before and now its worth 4 times what you paid for it after you gave it away.:frown:
Some people just buy new stuff and mothball it and wait for the value to go up.
The "Wildthing" has become a byword in the saw world, (something or someone who is mocked or ridiculed).
The color alone is enough to provoke a negative response. :msp_tongue:
I personally was also attracted to the modification and racing aspect of this model, ( similar to barstool racing).
The ability to take a saw that is laughed at and make it fast enough to spank a saw 1/2 again its size.
As I stated earlier, I would do some serious trading with a member here to mod this unit for full tilt boogy action.

Ric I suggest you contact Mastermind. Randy has done some crazy WT mod work, and would surely be interested in some of your goodies in trade for modifying your saw. I know he's looking for a clutch and possibly other parts for a Homelite 750.

Did someone say Mooberized????????? :hmm3grin2orange:
I sent Rick a PM about some 750 parts yesterday....this morning.....hell I can't keep up. :msp_mellow:

Thanks, but I was commenting on someone elses saw.
The one I picked up this weekend is the 2375 actually. It seemed pretty easy to work on. I got up the nerve to try the rope trick, and what do you know, it worked like a charm. :hmm3grin2orange: The gears on the old oiler were stripped out. I messed around with it to try to shift the gear over a bit, but that didn't work. A $10 oiler kit it is. It'll make a good truck saw.
