added to my poulan collection tother day. bought a 361 that's reported to be all working and nothing missing. very anxious to put my hands on this. other than the basics as listed on csc i'm wondering about what to look for on this saw?

poulan 2550 cylinder needed

Hi guys, I'm looking for a good cylinder for a 2550t Titanium. I had replaced the piston and somehow one of the wrist pin clips came loose and viola, putched cylinder and piston. The crank is OK and I have a reasonable piston. I either scap it or rebuild with a good cylinder. I'd rather do the latter to see if I can get it right!

Thanks,

Lee

I had really much time today and i thought to messed up with my 2250.I modded a little the muffler and i noticed that the sealant i've put on the crankcase is starting to distroying.Maybe it wasn't gas resistant.:msp_unsure:

Anyway,i will replace it but i am not sure what type of sealant to choose.I tryied to find some of the sealants that you are using but i was able to find only the Threebond 1215(that sealant is using my KTM dealer) and the Dirko HT.What to choose?

As for the muffler mod,i opened up the diffusser, blocked the back outlets and add this on the side of the muffler:

I use Permatex Moto-Seal.
Dirko should be good too.

I personally use Dirko HT. Available at many small engine shops and it is also used by several European car manufacturers.

I have used Threebond 1194 for poulan metal crankcase sealant, cylinders and so far never a failure.

Used it to seal a dolmar 166 fuel tank and oil tank once too after splitting metal tank. Never failed with nitro alky mix being run.

You can see 1194 seam for crankcase sealant on this 365.

I second that. Threebond 1194 is also available from the Japanese motorcycle dealerships. It's called Hondabond-4, Yamabond-4, Suzukibond-4, and Kawasakibond-4. Same stuff, just packaged for them. Hondabond-4 even has 1194 in the Honda part #.

My KTM dealer is using the Threebond 1215 and it has the Ducati brand on it.What's about that?Is the same as the 1194?

Threebond 1215 and 1194 are different products. 1215 is an RTV silicon based sealer. 1194 is a semi-drying sinthetic rubber material. I'm not fond of using RTV products in applications where they'll get prolonged exposure to gasoline. They are fine for a 4-stroke motorcycle crankcase, as they do well sealing oil and water. A 2-stroke crankcase has gasoline in it at all times.

$20 score!

Stopped into a small engine shop, and asked if they had any Poulan bars. The guy said he had sent most of that stuff back, but had a couple. Pulled out a new 30" bar, and said he'd take $20 for it. Then he pulled out a roller nose bar, a Pioneer bar, and two small Poulan bars, and said "I'll throw these in, just to get rid of them" Still love gettin' that free stuff!!!!
