Good Lord, I couldn't help myself and bought the PP305 as well.:hmm3grin2orange:

Got with the seller and made a package deal.

Well good I am not alone. I know what you mean about not helping yourself I got the 335.

Well then happy to be of service guys.................and thank you for saving me from buying the dang things myself. I fought off temptation for DAYS....:cool2:

I see somebody got the CHEAP PP375/3700 piston too.

I've been wanting a nice one of these for awhile now.

POULAN SUPER XXV COUNTER VIBE Chainsaw 16 inch VINTAGE NEEDS CLUTCH & SPROCKET | eBay

I made him and offer and liked his counteroffer......so it's coming home to me. Between this and my 4000 I should have a fine two saw Poulan plan. :)

I saw that one listed Randy. Guess I need to take it out of my 'watch' list now. LMK if you need anything for it. I have a couple parts saws, and can spare a clutch assembly I'm sure. You want 3/8LP or 1/4" pitch? I'd be surprised if you want 1/4" pitch..........but if you do I'll send you a used B/C too. I also have a S25-CVA that's in my "shelf of saws to send to Randy for porting". One thing at a time...:D

Randy .. Randy .. Randy .... I woulda sold you a Craftsman-labeled Micro with a 10" B&C for less than that!

Yep and he would have had "less then that"

Damn straight. A Micro series saw shares NOTHING in common with the XXV series, other than the MFG name, spark plug, bar mount pattern, and sometimes the displacement and/or parts of the model designation (Micro XXV Counter-Vibe for example). Micros are good saws...................but XXV's are GREAT saws. I've already done a buncha work with mine, and more will be done in the future...

The decal on this flywheel cover can cofuse people:

...into thinking that the Micros are in the same family as the saws that wear this flywheel cover:

powersharp

I just bought this on ebay
Vintage Poulan 245 Super Automatic P60 Super 66 090 s-72 92 066 | eBay
I couldnt resist, the price was low enough and I already have new rings for it. I really love my two 306es (? spelling) and have been on the lookout for their big brother and no I didnt need it. I now have seven saws and I have no trees just a fire ring in my small back yard (thanks CAD) but I do get to cut wood for my Grandmother about twice a year and love cutting and now chainsaws as well.
I was reviewing my impulse buy and had a couple of questions, first, is the powersharp good with regular chains or do you have to buy special ones for it. second is it possible to remove said powersharp for use with regular chains also is the clutch cover the same as the 306
Thanks,
Nick.

Nice looking 245SA project score! You can remove the PS stone and run regular non-PS chain. You cannot sharpen regular chain with the PS system. The clutch cover is the same as what's on the 306A (other than decals) too.

Any of you guys got a black air filter cover for this PPS25AV I got coming?

Looks like the CVA style cover is the same.
Mark is this the filter cover your looking for??. Sorry about the crappy picture

I wonder why the clutch and drum is missing though......

I hadn't read the ad, just looked at the pictures, was wondering why the chain was hanging down so far! The owner probably had another 25 saw that needed a clutch and was too lazy (or broke) to go buy another clutch/sprocket.

I would bet on this too.

I had a cheap little mac come in that needed spur clutch drum and bearing. Guy didnt want to put $ in drum and bearing so he gave me the crap.
I bought the $20 in parts and gave it to my dad for a back up to the back up little trim saw.

Update on new to me 5200

Fellow Poulan fans,

I vac and pressure tested the saw and it was perfect. Put a carb kit in it, new fuel line, sharpened the chain and dressed the 20" bar.
It fired right up 4th pull.

Oils like a bear which I guess it should with a 20"bar.

Since I have never run a (medium large??) 85cc saw before and all I can say is holy F%#XX@#$!!!

This thing is unbelievable.
Unfortunately all I have to try it in is a piece of 10" Norway maple. (Sucks living in the city).

I think I'll build a box for it and take it next time I'm out ATV'ing and try it in some big deadfall wood.

By the way, whoever said that 5200's are up there with the best sounding saws has my thumbs up. It sounds mean at idle and fantastic in the cut. Scared the heck out of the wife.

Do you guys run the rakers at 0.025 or 0.030?
It has a semi chisel chain on it. Im not sure what type but "SDK" (Shindaiwa?) is stamped on the links.
