That is where I got it from, and it dont say with bar or PHO. Like I said, I was asking as I dont have much faith in whats published there.

I know my 133 is heavier then my 5200 and I still like the 133 alot.

No matter what, like I said in 1979 the Poulan 3400 was up there with any other produced at that time, there good saws and only got better when the displacment increased with the 3700 and 4000.

I have a muffler modded 3700 that will really run...

In case you have not noticed the 3400/3700 mufflers are really restictive and they really like a muffler mod. Makes a world of difference in them.

I haven't done a muffler mod yet but I will.

It seems that I wasn't meant to add any new-to-me Poulans to the stable :(.

1. Pawn shops can be so much fun :dizzy:! Yesterday I found a Poulan 2000 rebadged as a Craftsman.

Very good cosmetic condition.
Very good compression, but it wouldn't start (see gas comment).
Tensioner was screwed-up, couldn't remove the cover to check it.
The screw/nut & bolt was missing from the rear end.
One screw on the bottom for the HB wasn't screwed all the way in, wouldn' turn (screw too long? cross-threaded? wrong size? wrong thread?).
They'd had on the shelf for a year, gas smelled bad. They'd been marking it down monthly after it didn't sell the first two? three? months. Gee, maybe the original $99.99 price combined with its condition had something to do with it not selling. They acted like their "final" price of $29.99 price was great deal :msp_rolleyes:!

2. The guy with the Poulan 3700 has re-done his CL ad. The first photo in the new ad is a clear shot of the 3700; in the old ad you could barely see only the rear handle. I wonder if my two emails & one phone conversation had anything to do with it :msp_angry:? BTW he still hasn't set a price.

I've had to turn down several Poulans lately, turned down two Craftsman poulan saws today $30 for the pair. Not sure if they were the Craftsman 25s or micro saws. Friend called me from a yard sale. I just don't have the room anymore...

Yes, make sure to check the carb to manifold gasket, that seems to be where I find the leaks on these. I have seen some reed adapter/manifolds seem to not be flat where they mount to the carb makeing a gasket leak.

I have taken a flat file to the surface to flatten them out and allow the gasket to seal.

I found the leak.It was the manifold gasket.I am looking to find some gasket paper to build a gasket.

Pics/Video or it didn't happen!! :msp_biggrin:

Mark, I have a 3400 here just cryin' for a muffler mod.

I'll have it done and tested this week! :chainsaw:

And along with your report on how it worked out you will have accurate visual documentation!???:msp_thumbup::msp_thumbup:

Finally got it *grins*i had a mint green one i traded for another saw been looking ever since ... dont need it i have 4 ive bought a few different poulans local i have out in the shop have not touched ... i need some time in the shed ..... cant wait to get this one hope its a nice as it looks!!!!

Glad to hear it went to someone here on AS :msp_thumbup:! The feePay Craftsman looked as though it was bought & very rarely used.

I have a Craftsman version of the 2400 (rear handle version of the 2300CVA), but haven't done anything with it other than a quick lookover. Before I mess with any chainsaws, I need to get running the Craftsman (Poulan) blower that belonged to my father, & the thrift store FS 55 needs some attention after sitting too long.

3400-3700-4000 oilers

What's the run down on fixing the oilers on these. Seems like for me commonly they are a problem. I've got a 4000 right now that runs great, manual oiler works but the auto doesn't and I really don't know much about what to do to get it fixed. It has a new bar so the groove is clean and I'm running Stihl winter weight oil so it's not to thick. How to your trouble shoot this series of saws?

OK who got the NICE looking Dayton 4Z252 on feebay? I got a notification of a new listing in my "dayton chainsaw" saved search, and saw that somebody already had grabbed it when I clicked on the link. I hope it's somebody here..............so I can congratulate them................................then tell them that they SUCK!!!:D

Dayton 24" bar chainsaw. Runs great! CHAIN SAW 4Z252 | eBay

Which model of the 4200-8500 series is the 4Z252? Guess I'll go look it up in the Poulan private label listings, as there's no profile for this model on Acres site...

Edit:

Looks like it's a rebadged 5200. Yep...............somebody scored!

I hope this auction didn't go down the way I think it did. Looks like it already had a bid on it.

Does it look like somebody worked a " backdoor" deal with the seller and had them end the auction early? It already ended before I checked out the listing, so I didn't check out the bid history and such. If I'd had a bid going in the auction and it was ended early I 'd be pissed. That has happened to me several times........with the 'backdoor' buyer being an AS member at least once.

What gets me more than that is when a seller lists an item with a low starting bid and no reserve (to pull in bidders), and then ends the aucton early if the bidding hasn't reached their " mental reserve" (giving "item is no longer available" as the reason for ending early).................and they relist it for $.99 with no reserve a week or so later...........and repeats the process until the bidding reaches their "mental reserve". Shady...

Well lets just say it like this. That Spiegel that I just got, I had the first bid on, then I emailed the seller to ask if he had a buy it now in mind.

Well it took a bit, but he got back with me and asked me to make a offer which I did. Well before he could reply that he would take my offer (which he would have) someone else bid on the saw so when that reply came in I told him that since someone else had bid on it, it wouldnt be right and I wouldnt feel right with him ending the auction now.

I ended up buying the saw for within $3 of what I offered for it. Thats the way I roll.

In this case with the Dayton, I asked if he had a BIN.
He came back and said make an offer. I did and he said
place a bid and it's yours. He would make up the price
difference in the shipping cost.
I didn't jip any other bidders out of it. And i feel good
about that.

Thats what figured all along, I knew you were in on it early. You done what you had to do, as in my reply, you knew it was going to cost you alot more if you didnt. :msp_biggrin:

You got a nice saw. I know, I got 6 of em, just not in that color.

When I sell a saw on ebay nobody has to ask if I have a buy it now, they can read it in the "Buy it Now" column. If it's not listed as a buy it now then I won't sell it as a buy it now. I don't like it when buyers email me and ask me to deviate from what's listed in my ad or against the rules and I like a level playing field for all buyers and sellers.

Wasn't there only one bid and it ended early? Correct me if I'm wrong.
