Sorry to ruin your fun Myron. That was an easy one for most Poulan nuts. It also helps that there was a Dayton 4Z252 on feebay a week or two ago. We talked about it here, and LeeHa ended up with it. There was also "dayton4z252" in the code for your pics. It shows up when a fellow quotes your posts with the pics in them...:D

I've been messing with old saws off and on since the mid-1980's, but CAD has only really had a grip on me since 2005 or so...

That's funny.....learn something new every day.......I always title my Photobucket albums with the make/type of saw so I can keep the pictures somewhat organized.

Well your past decades of messing with old saws were nothing but fuel for your current CAD grip!!:msp_thumbsup:

My CAD comes from my family past with my dad being a lumberjack in his younger years and then always having a chainsaw around while I was growing. Luckily I've got his last saw and hope to collect up three more representative models of saws I know he owned. Hopefully I'll get them all collected up while I'm still able to handle them. The first chainsaw he ever owned was a big dog ; http://www.arboristsite.com/chainsaw/173584.htm

looks like

just picked up a Skil 1636 (rebadged S25CVA) at the salvage yard. only thing obviously missing is the fuel cap. all kinds of crap in the fuel tank, muffler very rusty but sound, p&c nice and shiny, compression feels good. don't know about spark yet since i didn't carry my scrench in with me but will know soon. anyone know if the original was two-tone? this one has yellowish clutch and starter covers and orangeish everything else. i'm guessing its a frankensaw since the cover says its vibration isolated but the top handle isn't.
i just need to quit going there so i can quit getting saws for ridiculous prices.
hmm. anyone got any idea where the on/off switch would be on this?

Thanks, Mike, that is my first "You found a nice saw/AS congratulations" I've received since I've been here. I'm thinking about mounting some of the filtering media on this filter as a "pre-filter".......similar idea to the knee high stocking idea. I'll document what I end up with.

Ok Myron, I'll give it to you next, YOU SUCK!

You never see those 5200/Daytons show up at all and now I have seen three of them within two weeks!

I missed out on all three it seems. :msp_biggrin: Glad you got it and it went to a good home.

I just picked up a 295 today. Looks hardly used.

What can anyone tell me about this series. I see that it is 46cc which seems underpowered for a 20". The guy said he used it a season and couldn't get it started the next so he left it in the shed with gas in it for three years. Have only inspected but did not try to start it yet.

I agree that a 20" bar is not the best setup for them.
I have a 16" .325 on one and it is a very nice small saw.
As you will find they can all be rendered inoperable through neglect.
Clean the fuel system and put a kit in the carb if necessary and you will like that little saw.
Poulan put that same engine in several saws and they are all pretty good runners if opened up a little.

The only Pioneer saw I have seen with that is the Farmsaw. There may be others, but I am not aware of them. Tom.

I have a Pioneer P28 with the auto decompression release...It tripped me up, I thought it had low compression so I did not really look at it for over a year:msp_sneaky:

That Dayton/Poulan 5200 is a nice find ; check your settings for some new Rep!

I've bought a few saws that had low compression, got them home and found the de comp valve pushed in. Quite a relief knowing I wouldn't have to change the p/c.

Thanks, Mark, it's as close to a new chainsaw as I've ever came thus far in life. As soon as I find the recently purchased flat bottomed Dremel cutters I'll be "up-grading" the fuel line situation. This Dayton will be a worthy home of the awesome 'Crowellmachine' aluminum fitting.....thanks again to the both of you for making that happen!!:msp_thumbsup:
