Really though, the 77cc versions of these are really strong.

That said, so far the biggest bar I have run on my 4900 is a 24" and no I cant tell the difference between it and a 5200.

Some day I will try a longer bar on it along side a 5200 setup the same to see what happens then. I think over 28"-32" bars you might see the 5200 show its stuff a little more then.

If he has the A/V mounts for the S25CVA I would like to have 2 sets (one for the upper 1/2 wrap handle and the lower), also a couple for the rear handle. Depending on the price, I would probably be interested in the 5400, 3400, and 655 chainbrake assemblies if he has any. When you say Micro I'm thinking 1800, 2000, etc type saws. If it is a green one for the S25 count me in. Also if he has any of the K&N type air filter assemblies for the 655 I'd take all he has, please let us know of any full wraps for the 8500, 5200, 5400, 3400, or 655 as I'd be interested in any of these.

I would compensate you for shipping and a some extra for your time.

Thanks,
Randy

Randy,

I'm putting together a list for him to check stock against but I need to provide part numbers and the saw model. If you would provide those to me I will add them to the list.

I'm curious as to why that is?? :msp_confused:

You also mentioned there was no noticeable difference between the two........how does that relate back to the 4900 spanking the 5200 ?? Just tryin' to learn from the folks that have the experience. :msp_thumbup::msp_thumbup:

Let me clarify a bit.
I've run 77cc saws against 85cc saws side by side and they are so close as to not warrant changing out a good runner and making it something it's not.

ModifiedMark's 4900 is a beast!!!
I personally don't think it will be far behind any (Unaltered) saws in the 75-85cc class old or new regardless of brand.

Something to do with different recip mass weights, port design, bore & stroke differences or ?? The longer bar experiment would be interesting to see how the 8cc's difference shows up compared to the 5200.

POULAN NLA/NOS parts

It'll take me a couple of days, can I have that much time?

I spoke with the seller. His name is Brian. Very nice guy located in Whitby ON. He said he would be happy dealing with US customers and shipping parts.

He also told me he has found some parts for 306A and 245A saws.

You can reach Brian by responding to this add on KIJIJI

Small engine parts - City of Toronto Buy & Sell Goods - Kijiji City of Toronto Canada.

If I can be of any help, please let me know.

Ok, I'll bite.......

Now if somebody fabricated a new intake manifold for these 3400-4000 saws to take a Walbro SDC, I'm guessing there'd be sizeable gains on ported saws.:cool2:

What is a SDC carb? It came on a _______ ? Does anyone have a garbage one, to get dimensions from? Still renovating my building but could work on something this winter.....
I have several 34's myself.....

I just sent you a PM, would you rather I send it to him direct?

Karl, a Walbro SDC is just another type of carb.

Just saying putting a SDC on in place of the original Walbro HDB for a perfomance gain is silly. The SDC series were made in lots of different models with various venturi sizes, just like the HDB's were.

For the record a 3400 HDB carb has a venturi of 16.66mm (which is really rather large for 56cc). There were lots of SDC carbs with 14mm venturi's. That would be a step backwards. On the other hand the SDC-88 had a 19.04 mm venturi. That might be an advantage, but there again thats a really big carb. Kinda like putting a 850 dbl pumper on a 302 v8.

Me thinks you are correct. Longer bar would probably reveal any advantage.

Like you, I have only used a 24" on my 4900.

The air filter was rough so it got reskinned with some new max flow material and I swapped out the 20" chicom bar and chain for a Tiawan 16" bar with a USA made Oregon 20lpx chain. It runs really well and expect it to be a light saber for limbing and small bucking. I know it sure has good acceleration.

i'm intrigued OR whatchutalkinbout? what is this max flow material of which you speak? got some filters that need reskinning, been using a tight weave material from the fabric store.

I'd like to know where to get some....:smile2:

Mike, clarification please and need advice about hi-test

What can anyone tell me about this series. I see that it is 46cc which seems underpowered for a 20". The guy said he used it a season and couldn't get it started the next so he left it in the shed with gas in it for three years. Have only inspected but did not try to start it yet.

I agree that a 20" bar is not the best setup for them.
I have a 16" .325 on one and it is a very nice small saw.
As you will find they can all be rendered inoperable through neglect.
Clean the fuel system and put a kit in the carb if necessary and you will like that little saw.
Poulan put that same engine in several saws and they are all pretty good runners if opened up a little.

Mike

I have replaced fuel lines but don't know how to clean them. I shouldn't have to replace lines on this 5 yr old 295 right? It was stored for 3 yrs with gas in it. So how do I clean them?
Also, I have read some members using hi-test gas. What can anyone tell me about that. The manual says "unleaded gas". Are there advantages?

Actually, you clean the carburetor and fuel filter and replace the fuel lines.
No you shouldn't have to replace the fuel lines on a 5 year old saw....unless they sat for three years with ethanol fuel in them!LOL

As for the second part, I personally do not use the premium fuels.
I know some people do and have good luck with them, but I've never had a problem with my 87 octane pump gas and Klotz R-50.
