If the deal for a 5200 CB from the fellow in Canada doesn't work out, Bryce apparantly has a large stash of them.

POULAN 4400, 4900, 5400 CVA CHAINSAW BRAKE KIT STBX603 | eBay

EDIT--Just re-read the ad, the above-linked kits might not work on a 5200 (??????).

Not owning any of those particular models, I can't say for sure. But, if they are like the newer 6900, 7700, 8500 versions of those saws, they use a the larger 3/8" bar studs. Unlike the 4200, 5200 that use the smaller 5/16" studs. So I can't say whether they would work or not. I'm sure Mark or somebody else knows for sure.

Gregg,

I have replaced fuel lines but don't know how to clean them. I shouldn't have to replace lines on this 5 yr old 295 right? It was stored for 3 yrs with gas in it. So how do I clean them?
Also, I have read some members using hi-test gas. What can anyone tell me about that. The manual says "unleaded gas". Are there advantages?

Actually, you clean the carburetor and fuel filter and replace the fuel lines.
No you shouldn't have to replace the fuel lines on a 5 year old saw....unless they sat for three years with ethanol fuel in them!LOL

As for the second part, I personally do not use the premium fuels.
I know some people do and have good luck with them, but I've never had a problem with my 87 octane pump gas and Klotz R-50.

Mike

Wow, Mike! Talking to yourself and answering yourself back... Ummmm, not so good. :msp_confused:

 I think he has been inhaling to much John Deere green paint fumes lately, Steve.
But, you never loose an argument that way I suppose.

Gregg,

Does the moparman have two handles? I figured he and EZRider were two separate persons...

I have no clue how that happened!!!LOL
It wasn't my quote, I promise.
Maybe the server was as asleep as I was when I posted that!
You can absolutely believe that we are two separate folks.
I'd have found somewhere in the SOUTH for my pseudonym to live!!!!!

Reliability

My son-in-law was kind enough to give me a copy of the Ontario forestry safe workplace association manual, The Cutting Edge which is a safety related chainsaw instruction manual.
While reading it I noticed that the pictures started off with a Husky and then came a Stihl and then a J-red. Then oops, here comes the Poulan 405 Plus and finally the Husky again.

My question is, How come they got the Husky fixed before the J-red and the Stihl?

Must have had a dealer close by.

You're not a spammer are you? :spam: Maybe you need a little red rep.

Naaa

No spammer here!

1) I don't know nearly enough about computers!
2) I don't have three numbers at the end of my name.
3) They make more money than I do!!!LOL

Green rep is always appreciated though!

Klotz inquiry response

I don't understand your question; " Is this the right place to insert my text?"

Since Mike is probably sound asleep I'll let you know that Klotz is a manufacturer of oil. Mike likes the Klotz R-50 and since I couldn't find the R-50 when I was looking I went with the Klotz Super Techniplate which is a 80-20 mix(80 percent synthetic and 20 percent castor bean oil). The R-50 is 100 percent bean oil IIRC. I really enjoy the smell of the bean oil exhaust as it takes me back to mid 70's motocross races when I was growing up.

Here is some reading that will help you learn more about Klotz;

No EZ,

I'm not sure why it is doing it but in your quote is attributes what I said as being originally being posted by you.
I had to take myself out of this quote or it was going to do it again!

Mike

I went back to the previous page and checked it out. That straightens it out as to who said what...I think.
