Yes there really great saws. Nice pair, now you need to mod the muffler on one to let it breath like it needs to. Will make it even greater!

Here is the one on my 335.

I got started on my 305 that I got from that same seller. It is like new and its almost ready to go. Just wanting to take some comparison pictures to a 365 that I got to show the case differences between them to so everyone.

I like the muffler mod you did on that. I usually do a pipe but I think I will copy what you have there. Thanks for showing.

Its nice to hear someone say something nice about the Pros

Here are my pair of 335's that I got. The last one was the NOS saw that was on ebay. I finaly recieved all the parts I had on order put some fuel in it today and fired it up. These are great saws.

B-day stuff..............

Thanks Myron!
I wouldn't go back to 39 again for anything! It was WAY to hard to get from there to here the first time without having to do it again!!!LOL

Mike

I also recently had a B-day and my 93 year old FIL wished me the same thing; " Happy 39th Birthday................again!!" . He's got a great sense of humor and is quite the testimony to longevity!! I was talking with him about his WWII 'Battle Of The Buldge' experiences last night............just soooo amazing to tap into that living history account!!

Anyways I hope your day was good and you were treated to a nice celebration; cake/ice cream/gifts and so on and so forth!!:msp_thumbsup:

The 295 are great saws. I have one I ported out, muffler modded, and advanced the ignition timing and it runs great. Good easy saws to work on. Good luck with it running on the yellow stuff.

Anyone looking for a couple of Poulan 3400's? They are both pretty complete and have good compression. Anyone that wants them can have them for $20 + actual shipping. Just send me a pm if u have interest.

Goodness gracious, looks like everyone has a PP 335 except me! If the PP305 is 49cc's what is the PP335? Somewhere in the 54-56's?
Bob

i'd say so, the 305 number isnt it the cubic inches to cubic centimetres conversion, so 305 is 30.5 cubic inches which is 49.9cc and 33.5 cubic inches is 54.89cc

i could be way off key here, but maths / long division i am usually good at with pen and paper :)

Here is a 3400 cylinder that has been around the world twice. It came out to Australia in '79 or '80 as a brash young saw and became a native. I sent the cylinder back to Randy recently so he could turn the base down to reduce the squish and it has just returned home again. Compression was about 120lbs before (with no base gasket). I wonder what it will be now? I am hoping for 150lbs or so and it will be interesting to see if the saw picks up in performance any - actually it was a good runner beforehand anyways.
Working a million hours a week at the moment - supposed to be retired - but hope to put it together on the weekend.
Sorry about the lousy pics. I drowned my so called waterproof camera and have had to resort to my 5 mega pixel antique Kodak.

Al, I am curious as well, as to how much real world difference that will make to the 3400. If it turns out to be significant, might have to have several 4000 cylinders turned down.;)
I take it your not porting this saw, just trying to increase the compression?

By the way, I like your old laptop PC. LOL Good old reliable IBM Thinkpad.
I guess by having a Poulan in the pic, keeps this on topic.:D

Gregg,

I do not believe that I have ever heard anyone ever refer to their dimise as getting closer to the oven door. I have to say though it cracked me up.

It's a cremation reference/joke. I've told my wife & my family let the doctors take anything they want, then toss what's left in the oven :). I still feel reasonably safe buying green bananas :D.

Now BOT: I saw these yesterday, had a quite a debate with myself since the total cost was about $40.00. Did anyone here snag 'em?

How many of these 335 you guys are posting have the thin rings?

The one I had till I passed it onto my training officer and friend to keep him from buying one of those plastic white saws he had no clue about.

This one had thin rings. Type 1 was on mine I think. Pic may show it.

All 3 of the ones that I have say Type 1. I did not know they used different rings in them.

I have the cylinder sitting right in front of my keyboard off of my 3800. I just got through shaving the bottom of the cylinder and putting it on the crankcase to check the squish. I took about .020 out of it by eliminating the base gasket and shaving the cylinder bottom. I am now debating if I want to do any porting on it. I did do a compression check on it before which was 125 PSI which really is not bad when you consider the squish was aroung .055.
