I'm guessing the logs are at least 30"

I took about 4 chunks off the end, till I found some decent wood. Got three 8ft. logs from it. Now my problem is trying to move these, they are extremely heavy. I would have prefered White Oak, but can't refuse what was provided I guess. I will get some smaller stuff also, Ash or whatever, for some smaller saw exercising.

Gregg,

 :msp_drool:

Shoot biggest bars I own now is 24" and smaller cc saws in 82cc and 80cc now :msp_sad:

I finally got around to trying to get us some bigger wood for those that have 8500 Poulan saws at the gtg. And by some of the last few posts, every body has one but me..LOL

This Red Oak lost its top in the big blow we had this summer. ( Brad will remember that one). You can see its top in the back ground in the first pic. Had a hollow where it broke off, and was a little hollow at the stump. Could see through at ground level.

I didn't have the camera with me when I cut this, so is a little hard to judge the size of it without a saw in the pic for refrence. I hate to admit this, but I did not use a Poulan saw to do the job. I used my 385xp, it has the largest bar I own, a 30"er. I cut it higher than I normaly would, to avoid some bad wood. The stump was 37-38" across. I'm guessing the logs are at least 30"

Gregg,

Working hard for some friends. Have some rep (First time trying to give some. Hope it works)

Most of the trr guy I know use a max 24". The biggest bar I have is 28" on my 2101xp. Of course when I finally had occaision to use it the saw wouldy run after it got hot, (bad coil still needs to be replaced). So I bolted it up to my 3.7 and that saw pulled it just fine through some maple that was bigger than the bar.

You've got that right. I need mine like 9 more holes in my head. Sort of like my guns, fishing rods, and all the stuff that keeps me smiling.

If we start having to justify the number of guns and rods/tackle we have... I'm screwed. At least chainsaws keep my house warm:msp_wink:

"S" clip over bar mounting studs

Does anyone know the part number of the "S" clip that fits over the 5/16" bar studs that acts as a filler? I have one on the 5200 but need one for the 3.4 Craftsman and can't find one on the IPL's.
Thanks

Can't help ya with a part#. I have 3 or 4 of them in use now, on some of my saws. But would like more of them too. Couple years ago on ebay, somebody had a number of them for sale. Like an idiot, I just bought one at the time, thinking I wouldn't need more of them.:dizzy: I seem to have gathered a number of used bars over time, that need em. Guess you can't have to many of them S-clips, just like 85cc saws.

Gregg,

But...We all should have at least five 85cc saws, and a couple a little bigger, just in case.:D

Good luck........

Is the stud spacing for the 200/300 series Poulans the same as the spacing for the 4200/5200 series saws (so they could use the same 'S' spacer)?

I ask, because the spacing IS the same for the 200/300 Poulans, 10-Series Macs, and the early XL-12 Homelites with 5/16" studs. Same clip fits all three. Opens up some clip source options..

Sorry Mark but that number was right above the S-clip.

Whoops, your right, I should have put my glasses on.

I said good luck because I have searched high and low for a source of them. I even emailed and got a reply from Windsor a few years ago to not much help.

They did give me a Windsor # and a supplier but they turned out to be spiral spacer rings which worked fine by the way. I had to order 100 but they were pretty cheap. I have used some and gave a bunch away but I'm getting low on them and will keep the rest for now.

If I can find my reciept, I might be able to get some more.
