I would love to know what that is.
('kitless' quickie carb cleanout)
Larry

I would suppose it's when you clean the carb and put the same gaskets and parts back in...that doesn't happen around here, I mostly work on older saws and they require a kit to run right. Besides that I generally tear up some of the gaskets when I disassemble the carb.

Poulan 4000 fuel system problem

My 4000 isn't sucking gas up the line into the carb. Fuel line has been replaced. Carb was rebuilt and it ran after that but has suddenly stopped pulling fuel. What should I be looking at to straighten this guy out.

First thing I'd check is to see if the weighted fuel filter is still attached in the tank and hold the line down in the fuel (there IS fuel in there, correct?). Secondly, check to see if the impulse passage/line is clear. Third, check the carb and make sure nothing in there's messed up.

Thanks, I'll check that all out. Gas I have checked. Tried to get a new filter on the way home and since they ask what kind of saw and I told them well you probably know how that went. I might throw a known good carb on it but I really hate robbing a good saw.

2500 Farmhand Turbo Clean

Picked up this bad boy today for $10 with that 18in bar. Took it home and it is missing the choke arm, two of the cylinder bolts, and a carb mounting bolt. Now I try to stay away from newer Poulans (This one is a 91)..but I have used 3400s in the past and they are great saws. Have great power, torque, start fast, and are reliable as hell. I figured that the 2500 would be right around those lines of the 3400.
This is the thing, is this thing worth finding parts for, or should I just get rid of it as fast as I can? Could I just use the parts off from a burned up Wild Thing? (I can get my hands on a non running Wild Thing 24/7 around here) What would you guys recommend? When I took the top cover off from this thing it looks very similar to a Husky/Jonsered. And I work on those all the time and they are generally very easy to work on most of the time. If I do work on it, I will tear her all down to make sure she has not got any dirt in that crank. I just don't want to put anymore than $5 into this. Thanks

That saw is not related to the W/T but is very close to the Poulan Pro 295, 2700, and 2900. There are other variants but all in all a very decent saw. 40cc and runs right with anything Stihl or Husky has to offer in the same size. I'd fix it if the cylinder is good..

Congrats on the 8500 Mark. I'm sure you told me before, but what are the differences between the 8500 and 5200?

When I get some extra time I might pop off that cylinder and get a good look at the piston and it. If it looks good I will definetly look for a parts saw for it...or who knows...this one might turn into a parts saw itself if I find a better looking one.

Well thats what I am trying to find out for sure. I'll lay it all out in the future when I have had time to completly get to all the facts.

Basically so far it is a continuation of the 5400 which was a continuation of the 5200. Just a few small improvements each time. Basically structural changes, not so much motor or perfomance changes.

Kinda like you always explain to me the way the P series Pioneer saw evolved.

I hope you slapped him

Yep. What saw shouldn't matter. The important thing is the size of the line. Go to a shop that sells brands other than Stihl. A local 'Stihl only' dealer here has ZERO Tygon type line. Sez that all the equipment he services use specific, molded lines. All the other dealers sell/service other brands of equipment (sometimes in addition to Stihl), and carry multiple sizes of lines and filters. Of course, a smart Stihl dealer will know which Stihl filters fit what size line...

What does this fit?

Guys,

I'm going out to see the guy (Brian) with the NOS Poulan parts in a week or so to pick some stuff up and he has this part.
It's an exhaust cover Poulan PN 530091468
I can't find any info on it, but if any of you know what it is and want me to inquire, it let me know.

He also has a Phelon lgn module fits 4200 thru 8500 Saw, part # 39067

Here's the same Homelite 'S' clip on the early Homelite XL-12, McCulloch 7-10A, Poulan 306A, and Poulan 3400. Same stud size and spacing. This oughta open up some options. My 306A has another of these 'S' spacer clips along with a Windsor TXL mount bar.

will this s-clip work on a 5400? still looking for a d176 mount bar but this clip would widen my options.(are they still made or availible?)i did manage to make an adapter for my big dolmar(husky) mount d033?(have to look ) to fit my 5400. oiler lines up good bar slot was larger.
