Hi guys, I've been informed from another thread that you Oleo-Mac experts may be able to help me....
I'm trying to identify this chainsaw and find out where I could get a manual from..View attachment 196286View attachment 196287
any ideas? and what the oil / petrol mixture should be?
thanks,
Richard,

I think the serial # will be found under the sprocket, near the bottom edge of the case. I can tell you if I know that.
It may be somewhere else, but I'm betting its there. Maybe you have it memorized.

Richard, I can say for fairly certain it's a 900 series, likely 945 or 950 of some variant. Which one would take a SN, which you can't find. On my 264F deluxe, it's a riveted tag above the choke, but I don't see a spot there on yours. A riveted tag is easy to lose compared to stamped block numbers.

I did do some searching of Efco UK and came up with this dealer list. EMAK - Gardening Technology – Branches and distributors There's a dealer in Cambridge,

Duxford Hire & Supply
Address Station Road West Brands distributed Efco

Post Code CB22 4NL
District Whittlesford
City/State Cambridge
Country 18
Telephone 01223-833570
Fax 01223-836780
E-mail [email protected]
Web Ride on mower ? Duxford Hire sell quality ride on mowers

I'd bet they can help you with ID and a manual. On the oil, with a quality mix oil 50:1 is fine, 40:1 will work as well if you don't want to go that lean, but my older saws run the same 50:1 mix as my new ones with no problems. I use either Stihl, Dolmar, or Bailey's Woodland Pro synthetic oils, depending on where I am when I need to pick some up, and all are good oils, as I'm sure Husqvarna, Echo, or Efco branded oils will be. Just be sure it's meant for small engines, and not the bigger water cooled 2 strokes like cycles, atvs, boats, or snowmobiles. They are not formulated the same and will not perform as well in the little air cooled motors.

Hope this helps, and get back to us when you find out what model it is, and how you found out what it is.

Steve, Thanks very much for doing the research and finding that dealer in Whittlesford near Cambridge. It's really not far from me and I plan to go down to see them on Saturday morning. Will certainly let you know the outcome.
Thanks too for all the info on the fuel mix and oils.
Will post after the visit to Duxford Hire and Supply.

Air filters for the magnesium saws (251 and up at least to 482's) are available new, and very reasonable. They are the nylon fine mesh, not flocked and I believe they are adaptable to any set up except the arborist saws. A new or different intake may be required, not hard to come by at all.

how much you figuring?

Around $25. shipped. Every day some of these parts become unavailable it seems. I know the filter assy. for the 254 is available, and that would still fit all the rear handled saws, but it may not be what was on the saw. All you would need is the plenum that mounts on the carb, which is available many places used. If you have a cover, that should work also, again, a little engineering may be required.

If some one has a filter cover from a 254F, and would part with it, suitable arrangements can be made to please your fancy, unless it involves lewd acts.

Jeff, I might have a cover for you. I'll have to check in the shed in the morning and I'll get back to ya.

Hey Jeffie!

Got one for ya. It's not perfect, but it's functional. Note the bow in it in the second picture, and the crack from the center out to the scoop by my greasy mitt in the last. Speaking of greasy mitts, this thing took 3 coats of simple green to get all the gunk off, wherever it came from, I'd say it had a lot of pine in it's diet.

Just say the word, and I'll get it headed your way, maybe with a box of Super 2 parts if ya don't ask nice :D

Oh yeah, goin out to see if I can get the MiniMac to run now.

Gotta rummage thru shipping at work for some bubble wrap, and I'll get it out to ya tomorrow. Cost is one million dollars, or ya owe me one. Somehow I suspect this won't be the last thing we send back and forth.
