Hello all, first time posting with some real content. A buddy of mine gave me this "R16", my first Partner. I'm a bit doubtful that it's an R16 however. It has AV and (part) of the heated grip system. Sounds more like an R18 from what I've read. I suppose it could be a frankensaw. It has a 44mm bore cylinder for sure.

It didn't take much to get going. Replaced the old fuel line, broken spark plug, and overly thick starter rope. Rebuilt the HS117B carb and removed the points to really file and true them up. One of the ears on the starter cover was broken off so I epoxied it back on. Not sure how long or even if it will hold. Now it runs and cuts great. I inserted the exhaust conduit for the top handle into the muffler elbow so at least the top handle is heated. I'd love to find a valve and whatever else is needed to get the rear handle connected again.

I'll certainly be on the lookout for more Partners.

I finally found the Jobu branded Partner I have been looking for. I think I only lack having the Partner 543 from having one of each of the saws based on the original 500

Nice, must not be many of those in the US.
What's the cylinder bore dia and/or model equivalent in partner/jred?
Does it have a tag or is it a stamped in serial #?

Here is the tag, Silver tag with date.. As to the exact Partner model, I expect it to be a 44mm open port 500 but I will see when I tear into it. This one is decaled as a 949"S" and I don't know the difference in it and the regular 949 tagged models

It has the early 3 bolt starter housing and no lower handle brace like the 5000. It obviously has the Jonsered 490/590 top plastic parts and I have seen pictures of some with all red plastic instead of red and black like the Jonsered.

I really know little about it, and as for how many are in the US? I really don't know and I'm not sure I ever seen anyone else in the US have one. Not saying there isn't any, just not that I'm aware of. This one was snagged directly out of Norway

Does anyone have any experience with these oil pumps? I've taken several apart and the plunger brake pads had disintegrated. I replaced one with a cut up piece of fuel hose and it seems to work fine, but I'm wondering if anybody has a better idea.

EDIT: It's supposed to be square-ish block of material held up against the plunger with a spring (not pictured). The pad material resembles an old hardened pencil eraser.

Fuel hose seems to hold the plunger well enough. I'm guessing this is why some of my saws don't oil well. The plunger can reverse when the drive spring is released since the brake pad is no more.

It doesn't seem like Partners get much love here, but I thought I'd share a cheap source for several parts. These apply to 55/65cc R16 family saws, which is all I have currently.
  • HUSQVARNA 505268303 - Sealing Plate. Usually broken during oil seal replacement. I've now stocked up.
  • HUSQVARNA 505277230 - Rubber Plug. These go on the clutch cover, but they're usually missing.
  • HUSQVARNA 505279072 - Stop Button. Red push/pull style, not the earlier slider.
  • HUSQVARNA 505312226 - Gas Cap. Sits a bit deeper than the original but has a lanyard.
  • HUSQVARNA 506099212 - K650/K700 Cylinder. Genuine chromed cylinder & piston kit. Should fit some later saws (P70?) but I've modified one to fit a R417.
  • HUSQVARNA 506219101 - Grommet. I use these combined with Echo-style vents to replace original fuel vent hoses.
  • HUSQVARNA 506348801 - K650/K700 Gasket Set. Great deal for a complete gasket set (minus oil pump cover) with seals. Worked on a R16 & R421.
