Yep, I will go with an F55 (or F65) for the second saw. The first one is like a 420 so I would guess it is a 65cc version. Mine has closed ports and a 2 ring piston whereas my later ones have a single ring piston. All based on the R16 I think. Lots of versions out there but I have not seen a 1646. Usually when they have the muffler with the lower outlet they will be a points ignition saw (I think).
Great saws and super easy to work on. Always check the fuel lines first if having problems and the only other issues I have encountered are electrical.
Oh, there should be a hole in the bottom of the saw - oil adjuster in there.

Al.

All i can find on this saw is model.1646.
no IPL,no specs.
any info or links ?
runs good with good compression.

Oh yeh, cant find the oiler adjust.

Well there are some specs for it, but you was looking in the wrong place. Should have looked under Skil!

Model Profile: 1646

As you can see its the same as a Partner F65A I do believe.

I have a Skil 1632 which is the same as a F55 and some pictures of it are posted in this thread.

That black clutch cover that says Partner on it was probably changed.

Look what showed up today! You can look at the York PA thread to see how it came about, I have thank Kuhndog/Dave for pulling this one together for me, so you guys rep him ever chace you get.

It showed up just as I was heading out to finish the dead Oak we dropped after work Wed night so I only got a glace at it but it looks good. Only missing 2 muffler bolts and 1 spike (again!)

Compression feels good and I'll check spark tomorrow.

I did check the bar mount out and found this indeed has 8mm studs like the PM1000 but it has a 8mm - 9mm bushing on the stud to use the Husky bar.

Ken remember when I asked about yours? I think you will find yours to be the same way, not having 9mm studs.

Anyway here it is as arrived. I'm kinda excited if you can tell. :msp_thumbup:

How many of thos big saws are you going to get.

I was working on some Partners today and thought I would show some differences. The jugs are from an early R420 and an S55 which are both 55cc saws.

The R420 has closed port jug and a two ring piston (nasty scratch).

And the S55 has an open port cylinder and single ring piston (scratched as well).

Running them both the older R420 takes longer to spool up but it has a much heavier clutch and the flywheel looks meatier too. It seems to cut with the same speed as the newer saw, though.

Al thanks for showing those photos, I'm still learing these things and those are great.

Those scratches are barely even flesh wounds, smooth them off and send them back out to the battlefields.

Partner id #1&2

Thanks for the info guys.
any IPL's available ??

I'm sure they didnt either but the full wrap couldnt have added but half the difference in my mind.

I have been kinda lax on weighing saws but like to do them when there clean and empty, just so I know whats what if nothing else.

I agree with both statements - weighting saws with bar, chain, fluids and dirt really tell you very little - too many variables are introduced. :givebeer:

Isn't the R420 65cc, not 55? :msp_confused:

Niko, what I like to do is when I redo a old saw that I get in like the Mac PM1000 I posted is to tear it all down for a very through cleaning before I do anything to it. Then after I get it all restored/repaired what ever you want to call it, I like to put it right on the scale before any fluids are added to the completed saw. The saw is completely assembled though with clutch covers, spikes, bar nuts etc, just like you would have it ready to run less bar and chain.

Guys can debate my scales accuracy and thats fine but I know that it repetes the same weight everytime I put something back on it and that it is always just a ounce or two within the Post Offices scale and that I can at least get a accurate comparison between saws.

I'm not really a weight fanatic at all, just want to see for myself when someones spreading BS about something.

I for one am happy to see you visting this thread with any imput you can add to it.

Partner chainsaws were not common around here at all and I really have taken a shine to them the more I learn about them.

Where were you yestidy when i needed that ??
out playin wit yur dollies ??
and it is all sidewayz !! :(

Tnx Mark :)

Naw I just cleaned the dollies, sharpend them and put them away. I was tearing into the Partner P-100 super though and got it cleaned up and starting to put back together. I am missing a few parts for it but have a line on replacements for it. I may just rob the PM1000 of a couple things till they get here, just so I can get the 100 going.

Don't blame me for the sideways IPL I didnt copy that one. :hmm3grin2orange:

Just right click on it and choose rotate you big dummy...
