Some idiot called me today and said he had a big Pioneer saw and also a Stihl 038. I was about an hour away from him, so I told him what time I'd meet him, and got there early. No-show. Waited and waited....no show. All I can say about this dude is that he probably smokes Newport cigarettes....:censored:

Coincidentally, Newport is the preferred brand of white collar criminals...

Jerry was right when he said you got to have a lot of patience to play this game. I have been down a lot of dead ends only to find boat anchors. I have been looking for a Pro 655 for years. Finally got a line on one a couple of weeks ago. Price was right $50 but he would not ship. So I went to pick it up. .The cost of the saw cheap. 14 hours of quality time with the wife in the car just to pick up a used saw, Priceless. Will try to post a few photos of the new treasure tomorrow. You never know unless you go and look.
jeff

Jeff,I know you have put many hours into this collecting thing, Patience is a virtue indeed.

Thanks. The guy called me tonight and asked where I was today.....duhhhhhhh. He says his Pioneer is a model 7--something. It was supposedly right in front of him, but he could only say 7-something. He says it's a big saw and that it runs. He is asking 100.00 for it, but he may be a "crackhead" and doesn't work. I'm a little concerned about meeting this one, although I carry with a permit.

Most likely a model 750, big yellow and green, there is a pict of one recently posted on here by Petesoldsaw.

A customer of mine told me about how she spent 35hrs of quality time with her husband in a 1/2 ton waiting in line for a ferry to get home ;).
I don't think she used the word priceless but she did say something about a test .

Thanks. I have no idea what to offer for a running 750.....Any idea?.....Thanks

A running 750 in good shape, up to $300. There will most likely be some paint missing, that`s normal for Pioneers. Look over the metal covers closely for cracks or cuts, don`t want one with a lot of body damage as they are a little hard to find parts for and don`t usually come cheap.

Looking at Saw's

This is probably a no brainer to you guy's but when I go to meet someone for a look at a saw, specifically craigslist I let my wife know all the information as to where and when.Yeah I might end up dead over a few bucks, but maybe she won't have to wait as long for the insurance money if they find my body..LOL!

You know the parts of town to stay away from, but even the location that you shot the video for me is a little sketchy to say the least. My intro to that area was at a convenience store near the end of track for the skytrain, two police vans pulled up and a scuffle broke out in the parking lot, within minutes no one could enter or leave the store while police billy clubbed several guys into submission, chucked them and several bystanders into the vans and a couple more patrol cars that had arrived. Needless to say that the wife was a little concerned that it took me close to an hour to go a city block and get a couple things for breakfast. LOL

655bp

Hello Fellows
Some interesting comments on chasing saws. I am sure we all have had days we want to forget and others that still make us laugh when we think of them. Nothing like the hunt for new treasure. I am lucky enough to have a lot of estate auctions in this area and farm auctions. Always one or 2 kicking around. No more fighting with the scrap man over old saws. You need deep pockets now. I am trying my hand at posting a few photos of my new find, the 655BP. This orange line of saws were the latest and most powerful of the Pioneer saws. They are my favourite to use. It.s a lot of fun to get the old stuff out as well. Hope the photos turn out OK

That was one howdy doo to Surrey but I found it to be an ok place, I have some friends from back here living there. There is a lot of chainsaws out in that area, see them up for sale occasionally.
