Lawrence, that is just an old forest service '97 chevy 3/4 ton with the 454 and a good utility box. Got that about 5 months ago for $3,600, only had 53,000 miles on it. Sometimes good deals just fall in your lap. Mike

JJ, Is this one of them elusive Pioneer jugs with the bridged exhaust you speak of?

arrowheadpioneer

Yes, that's the elusive bridged exhaust. I'm thinking P-51?

Basically.... P50 (no decomp) I was cleaning up and organizing the shop and found 2 of them. I knew I had them... just did not know they were bridged. What makes them better than the ones without?

I recken with a bit of cleaning up of ports and a bit more compression it will just roar, Ive opened up the exhaust and inlet ports, Just opening the muffler improved it alot

My FIL now passed away sadly, many years ago, had I think it was a 1975, with a 454 in it.Power there for sure but that thing could suck the gas up quickly.

I've got a P62 on the way. I hope it gets there before I get to go home again in 2 weeks. What bar mount are these saws?

Yeah rupedoggy hooked me up with one. It was rebuilt/restored and hasn't been ran since he did it.

Hi guys, I just caught up on the latest on this thread and see that there have been some nice new Pioneer aquisitions. If you guys are in need of some parts (I saw someone needed an ignition) just drop me a line.

I've been busy working on my GMC truck in my spare time, installing a cam, roller rockers, springs, pushrods and headers. I have it all set up for a Magnusen supercharger that I've ordered and should have it installed in a month or so. I won $20k on a company west-coast fishing derby so have a few spare bucks for toys. Here's a pic of my truck engine and one of my halibut. This fish won me 10K. The other was a third-place 29lb chinook salmon that won me another $10K. I'm the guy with the big smile.

Wow, nice halibuit!! What harbour were you fishing from, West Coast surely?
Like the Chevy engine also, those roller rockers at 1.8 ratio will smarten that engine up some. I have run 2.1 but needed a Jomar rocker stud girdle to hold everything in its place.

Jerry, I caught the halibut in the Queen Charlotte Islands near Langara Lodge. It's the biggest halibut caught in the competition in 25 years.

I've ordered a set of CNC'd 243 heads with 2.055 valves as well. They'll go on with the supercharger. I hope everything works together well and that there will be enough valve-piston clearance with nearly .600" of lift. Only a test fit will tell.

Sweet!!
Possibly notched pistons in the future, I had to notch mine but they were forged Jahns. My valves were 1.98 intake and 2.02 exh, had to keep the comp down to 10:1 and run the blower 10% over.
