I ran my P61 out of fuel,it sped up abit then i turned it off . After refuleing its runnin the same ive cleand fuel tank filter had top off carb had little bit of dust/dirt in there new plug etc it still running the same stalls all the time even between blipping throttle, has to be restarted with choke etc all the time, Im not that keen on adjusting mixture screws What else could it be? Ive ran with fuel cap loose its the same??

Sounds like you may have got some grud in the carb.
You may have to remove the carb, disassemble and clean.
Check the fuel lines and make sure there are no cracks.
Replace the fuel filter also.

Hello

I Finally got my new to me P-60 running that I got in a trade from arrowhead
But it seems like the clutch is weak. The chain will stop sometimes but the engine dosent bog down. So I figure the clutch is slipping. If anyone has one that they want to get rid of please let me know how much?

Thanks

Dan

Sounds like you sucked up some dirt, replace the tank filter and pull and clean the carb completely, put a kit in if any parts look degraded, the 61 will pull suprisingly hard even with long bars on them, they are torque monsters.

Dan, I cut a few cookies with it the day I shipped it. It worked fine. I can send you a different clutch if you like... send me a pm or give me a call. Ed

I made it to the post office just as they were locking up. I sent it Priority Mail.... you should have it in a couple days. I will pm you the tracking #.

I got the P62 today. I messed with it a little bit. What carb settings would be a good start. I got it to fire with the choke and it will run for a second and then die. I'm sure glad they have a decomp on it.

One and a quarter to one and a half on each. That will be a little rich but that is good when cold and just getting fired up again. You can adjust leaner on the low speed after warm up and then later the high. Just make sure it blubbers at full throttle. It should then clean up when under load in the cut. Mike

I just re-read what you said and you indicated it will fire and run a little on choke and then die. Well yes it will die if you don't take it off choke. I can't really tell what you are doing, exactly, by what you wrote. Little things mean a lot. Leaving the choke on is what causes flooded saws. Mike

It will run after I take it off choke and will fire in one pull after that. It just won't idle down where the chain will stop turning. It will idle down and die. I started at 1 turn on both and went from there. It will start pretty easy with choke and then with the throttle locked. I didn't want to keep messing with it and hurt it. I figured I would ask you guys that have more experience with these pioneers.

I shipped Dans3kgt a P60 I had. It ran great the day I shipped it. When he got it he couldn't get it to fire. It turned out the fuel filter on the line in the tank plugged up. I emptied the gas out before I shipped it. The only thing I could figure is it dried out for the few days it took to arrive and the gunk in the filter hardened up even though it looked clean. This may be a possibility with your P62.

I'll check that in a little bit. We're having a cookout later and I've got 2 oil changes to do before I get back to it.

Pioneer 650 Bow Saw

I was dropping of some scrap metal last weekend and I found this sitting in front of the big pile when I backed up. I've used many chainsaws but have never one like this. I have not left many abandoned tools and it was just to cool looking to let it go to waste and not add it to my collection of old tools. I haven't had a chance to get into it or clean it up, but just looking around it appears to only be missing the pull start cover.
I am completely new to this site and found this thread by google search, I feel like I've learned enough between this tread and the bow saw thread to want to go forward with at least getting it running and then possibly restoring it.

thanks, Denny

Nice fine! Parts for those 650's are all over e-bay. I'm going out on a limb here.... but I bet the bow bar is worth more than the saw itself. Rarely do you ever see one with a bow.

Nice score Denny.

Yes Bow bars are hard to find for these old Pioneers.
I have one but have not seen another one untill now.
