I have a pioneer p-40 farmsaw and a pioneer 1110 saw aswell and i was wondering if they were worth restoring or just plain sending them on their way? im not sure on the age of either saw but they both run perfect

Is it a P40 or a Farmsaw? Both are 66cc but different designs. Both your saws are good saws. Neither have a high dollar value, but both are good dependable saws. As far as restoring them, that would be up to you. I love seeing Pioneers restored to new condition, especially before and after pics.

We got the P50 running today, sounds good. We'll get it in some wood tomorrow and report back.

If it is running decently you will like the torque these saws will develop, a sharp chain with properly set rakers will pull some nice chips. The P52 and P62 are my fav. P series saws.

I found that I could use a homelite bar and redo the oil hole, fits great. This saw should be strong at 82cc.

The 009 is running again. I'll put a kit in the carb tomorrow and send it home. Thanks Jerry.

Farmsaw question

Have Farmsaw with 475344 bar. This appears tobe a 18" bar and have a 68 DL 3/8" .058 chain (Carlton). The chain is loose even with the adjuster turned all the way. Is this the wrong chain?

if the adjuster is turned all the way and it is still lose it is either the wrong chain or it is stretched and you need a new chain, either way i would not run the saw til you figure out what the problem is

Chain is new not stretched is new.

Knock a drive link out of that chain and you will be back in business.

Does that bar take 67 DL? Everything I found said 68.
I don't have any chain tools, have always bought loops. I guess I will have to get one made up.

First pioneer

I have finally gotten a ticket into the Pioneer club! Not sure how great of a ticket it is but its a start. Its a Pioneer P20. The seller attempetd to fix the ign, but failed. The saw looks complete I dont know much about it, I think its around 50ccs.
Ill get solo pics tomm.

Figured I'd post a pic of the Pioneers I've been tinkering on. I'm really liking these saws. The P50 is running a 24" .404 and the P42 is 20" .375. Both of them start and cut great, I see what all the Pioneer fuss is about now. Torque monsters. :D

Good to see you in the pioneer family Joe. Your saw is 51cc, a 1074, p20,p21p25,p26,p28....all basically the same saw, all the same cc's.
They are good dependable saws, the fixed H carb was designed by the devil himself but once you get that sorted out they run good.

I should have lots of parts if you need a coil or whatever, let me know..

P 31 Question

PIoneerman, or anyone else.....
Im looking at a P 28 saw. Can anyone tell me something about this unit? Is it cmparable to the Farmsaw? I have a Farmsaw and like it very much.. Is tthe P28 similar? Thanks in advance!

The P28 is a 51cc saw. The Farmsaw is 66cc. They are both good saws in my opinion. Obviously the Farmsaw will have more power and torque than the P28.

The P28 is a small framed saw and is lighter than the Farmsaw. Both use the same type of starter drive, which is not as durable as a P41, and starter parts for the P28, Farmsaw are getting hard to find. The P28 is fine for cutting smaller wood, but in my experience they tend to run hotter and have more carburation problems. The electronic module is no longer available for either the P28 or Farmsaw, so you are left looking for used ones, which usually are shot as well. Not a bad saw for the size, but if you are looking to do a lot of work with it stick with the bigger P41,42 series or even a P38 which is also a midframed saw with just a little more displacement than the P28.

Pioneerman repsonse

Howdy Pioneer man- Thank so much for the response. Could you tell me more about the R38 and the 41 and 42 saws? What is the difference between those and the Farmsaw I have now? And between those themselves..

Thanks again
RON Z
