Pioneer 700, Not in to bad of shape. Nothing broken,
or cracked, Just missing the fuel bowl, latch and screen.
Great compression and runs on a prime. As soon as i find
the parts it should be a great runner.

A 700 with a 750 muffler? The cylinders are slightly different externally--the boss for the upper muffler mount is out further on the 700 than the 750. When I put the 700 muffler one the 750, I used a couple washers to take up the space. The exhaust ports are differently shaped--two different gaskets. I can't remember if one is bridged and one isn't.

Anyway, I'm in love with my 700. Got another one waiting on some TLC. Yours is super clean.

Got fed up with all the play in the 620 starter, so machined it out and made this insert to a .004" press fit.

Much better now :msp_thumbup:

Nice work! All I did on my RA was weld inside the cup then machine it out. I only ran a few beads then machined works fine now, but not as pretty as yours.

Good work,..that has been a standard fix for those old recoil cups for a good many years, we freeze the ring and heat the cup, pop it in and when everything reaches normal air temp its good and solid repair.

Pioneer P 40 gift.

My father in law stopped by to pick up some fire wood I collected for him, and gave me his old saw. Said he didn't need one that big any more.
It's a pioneer P 40 and seems to be in decent condition. I don't know its age, but its all metal.
It's been in my possession for less then an hour, and I will do a search for information later. I was hoping I could get a little info on this saw to satisfy my curiosity before I have to go to work tomorrow. Thanks. Beastmaster

Thanks to Madsaw, I have some nice 404 .058 chains for my P60. I took a little video of the first cuts with it. Afterwards I realized it was running a bit too lean, which explains the loss of power in the cut. I originally tuned it for 10,200 RPM at WOT, but it needs to be more like 9800. The 64 link chain fit perfectly on the bar. Thanks again to Madsaw!!!

Pioneer 1100 holiday

Hi folks, just looking for info on how to remove the flywheel on my 1100 holiday. I removed the castle nut (clockwise) and was trying to determine if the flywheel is tapered or?

If you have a tip for me I'd appreciate it.

Cank and flywheel are tapered, a puller connected to the holes in the flywheel where the starter pawls are located, remove them and connect the puller is the safest method. A hard rapp from a brass or aluminum hammer / soft metal drift and steel hammer on the end of the crank with the saw held up by flywheel clear of the benchtop will also pop the flywheel off.

O.k Thanks dude..

I was wondering if I could use a brass drift while lifting the flywheel ever so gently while my partner gave the drift a rap....

While I've got you, is there a muffler available for the 1100? The stack is a killer on the ears w/out ppe...:dizzy: I would like to tone it down a hair for my neighbors sake if anything but if there's nothing that's cool too.

Yes, the later 1100`s had pressed tin mufflers, that toned them down some, the stacked ones would make your ears bleed...LOL

More Pioneer IPL's

Well I got a nice surprise when I finally purchased two Solo Rex's from a good fella back east.He was kind enough to included a bonus, which was an original Pioneer binder with IPL's and some service bulletins. Not sure how much of the literature would be doubles of the stuff Chris posted on Media Fire ,but there might be some new stuff.I know there is quite a whack of information in that link of Chris's.

Lawrence, two solo rex's is very impressive. Careful you don't get your arm ripped off starting one of those beasts. When I started messing with chainsaws I saw one of those and was impressed, it's on my bucket list. The pioneer binder is impressive as well.
I wish I could access that link in your signature, it tells me it's private these days. Do you need a secret password to access it.
Thanks Kevin
