I was just about to say that.

Hiya Pioneer guys. Thought you'd be interested in this. Saw it in a favorite seller update email I received. I have no connection to the item or the seller, etc etc etc.....

PIONEER 2071 ROLLER NOSE CHAINSAW BAR 16" #473394 - eBay (item 130553075761 end time Aug-24-11 19:28:35 PDT)

Thanks Aaron. I'm thinking that bar would look cool on something....it's a regular KO95 mount....

That saw already had a P60 air filter assembly and a P60 handle, so it should fit well. I will cripple that saw, and then put it back together with the correct parts when I have time. Thanks for the tip though.

The p40 series is a smaller powerhead. The distance between the upper handle where the handle bar mounts and the lower frame is shorter, by almost an inch. All top handles and air boxes from P38's on up will interchange. The saw you got from ebay has a 60 series top handle and an old school P40 full wrap. It will not fit.

and I know this is true because my old school p40 full wrap won't fit my p50, which is the same size as a 60.

I hope I didn't sound too confusing on my post. I took a pic of a P60 full wrap sitting on top of a P42 full wrap. The tops of the bars are lined up perfectly, you can see the difference on the bottom. The first full wraps for the P40's were square, just like the 50's and 60's.

1958-59 pioneer 400

I have been looking at old saws that are for sale for a long time, and 99% of them won't run because of the carb. The diaphragms get old and hard, and sometimes fuel is left sitting in the carb and gums it up. If your carb isn't working, it sounds like a rebuild is in order. I guess that 400 model has a Brown carb. Sugar Creek has a rebuild kit for that carb, but I don't know if it is the correct model. You will have to check.

The 400 uses a top mounted pump primer, the diaphagrm and check valve disc rot out from old fuel sitting in them, it usually looks like the parts have melted into sticky goo. You would need a rebuilt pump to get it working again. A jury rigged bubble primer can be geared up as a replacement, one like those used on Poulan chainsaws.

Didja get it Chris? I see the dang thing sold for a tad over $25 (US) shipped! I wish I could find a McCulloch or Homelite RN bar for that kind of money....:msp_confused:
