Hi all,

Two Farmsaw questions;

#1 Looking to block off the governor on a Tilly HS147. This governor works a little too good. Drives me crazy. What do you use to block them?

#2 How can the oiler be safely pulled and pressed back on? I understand that they are a bit fragile.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

For the governor I cut a soda can to fit the end of the governor. Put the piece in and screw the governor back in. If I remember right 3/4 pipe thread fittings will fit on the oil pump worm gear. Then you can use a 2 or 3 jaw puller. Heat it up in a oven to slide it back on. Good luck with your farmsaw.

Continue of my chicken coop 1200s. Checking ignition found a bad wire from points-condenser pin to coil and replaced it. Now a yellow plastic one instead of factory black cloth covered one shown in photo. Points and condenser seem new. Spent a day on muffler which was badly rusted and ended up breaking the screws after many removal methods including heating with torch. Have spare ones..Checked piston , rings and cylinder and they seem ok.Does the reed valve surface have to be perfectly flat? I have some lite corrosion on the surface and may have to use some filler. It does not show in a photo. Allan

My trip was not as productive as hoped.I got p28 but no others. They were nice and running but too costly for me.P38-400,p50 525 and a p61 for 650. Maybe if they looked like pioneer guy 600,s restored saws ok. Allan

I’ve got the carburetor kit I need for this saw, so should I just rebuild the carburetor and replace the fuel line or should I vacuum test it first.

If you already have the carb off, pull the muffler, block off, and test. Why wouldn't you?

I just checked my FB and a guy has a Pioneer 3270. Says it runs strong. Missing the air cleaner cover. Marked down from $175 to $150. To me, that means he'"ll still come down. Any one interested. I'm not.

Thanks for the help. Governor is blocked off now. Got the opportunity to have a good look at how that thing is constructed after drilling the insert due to out the screw driver slot... That locktite or whatever they used works good! Luckily I had a spare carburetor for parts.

Does the fuel flow through that insert all the time then dump into the throttle bore once the little ball gets pulled out of the way at high RPM?
Looks like two passages flow into that brass governor assembly. Is it part of the hi speed circuit ?

So Im sure this info is in the thread somewhere but I don't feel like reading through 764 pages. Is there anybody selling parts for pioneers? Im rebuilding a Pioneer P42 but am putting a power port p45 cylinder on it. Im needing a center gasket, crankshaft seals and bearings, and top end bearing. I'm also interested in setting up the squish. Anybody have what is considered a safe clearance and head volume? Possibly a bar also. My saw was given to me and it has an old Bow Bar on it. While its cool i think a regular bar will be needed.

I just finished rebuilding a 3270SC, basically same as the 2400 only yellow with an auto oiler and choke. I haven't had it in wood yet but I'm impressed with the throttle response and man that auto oiler flat slings the oil! If that 2400 is a good price, then in my book yes it's worth picking up.

Rocketnorton When I said [60 of your bucks] I was referring to american location. It was 100 canadian bucks. I think it is a good deal and am picking it up tomorrow beating the complete lockdown here in ontario by 1 day. Sometimes the currency difference between america and canada causes problems. I live east of cornwall on. right on the st. lawrence river and found many saws 20-30 miles from me in n.y. state The asking price sounds ok but when currency exchange, duty and taxes are added up it is mostly uneconomical to buy them ie a p60 near by was advertised as 90 bucks. Exchange 30 bucks and coming across border 15 to 40+ depending who the border guy is and his mood. at the time. 150-175 plus canadian taxes. There is a way to lower this if you know somebody on one of the reserves on the border and get him to bring across duty and tax free. I am looking into this now. Allan

Just messaged the guy I bought the 2400 from as he posted me about a holiday 2 he has and I am buying it also. Now will have 2 of them. This one has some damage on starter [small piece broke on edge] but could be repaired, if not a good parts saw. This disease! Allan

It's part of the high circuit only. As far as how it works I'm not sure. I've heard different things, but can't confirm nor deny them. I just block all of them. Fortunately I now have SDC 80's on all my p series saws.
