Has anyone heard more bout it? Seems like every populus around here is dieing. last I read they thought it was several different bugs and drought stress. hence the complex name.

I think it's more common name is industrial disease, and it's spreading globally!

Seriously, I'll bet there are more species of trees being wiped out recently, on a broader range of pathogens than ever before in this country. And the media seems to be purposely downplaying it's severity and implications.

Rather like being in the mortuary biz for trees suffering the black plague!

Eucalyptus red gums in SoCal? Forget it!!!!!

Haven't seen the Poplar decline here in Holland yet, but in a similar vein, we get increasingly more pests and diseases from southern Europe migrating north. Also, diseases commonly found at our latitutes are now increasingly spotted in Scandinavia. We have for a long time had Elm disease problems here. I travel to Sweden quite often, and in recent years I started seeing more and more disease affected Elms in the southern part of that country too.

Cheers,

We have massive problems with Seridium (cardinale or unicornis) in Cypress over here. Oh wait, I dislike Cypress so that isn't really a problem is it.....

Tar spot in maples used to be a minor aesthetic problem, now it consistently crosses the economic threshold. I have one large Norway in my yard that I think is dieing from it. It held and shed leaves properly this year, but they were somewhat chlorotic and covered in spot. The entire crown still has withered seeds in it.
