Ethanol premium or non ethanol regular?

I have probably 30 pieces of two-stroke OPE. It all runs 93 octane whatever, as long as not E85, (usually E10) gas mixed with Stihl HP Ultra 45:1. I have 441s with 5000 engine hours that are still running on this.

I don't think fuels with ethanol cause any damage to machines while running. They can do damage if you let your stuff sit with fuel in it. So, don't let your stuff sit, and you'll be fine.

All of these questions assume we are regular people. Of course we are going to run 116 race gas with the latest dirt-bike racing oil. It's what we do as PSP'ers. Most of us are crazed hobbyists with an unnatural level of emotional attachment to our saws. There is absolutely no reason to not run fancy fuel. We'll pay 1500 for a ported 661 to sit on a shelf. We can afford the fuel.

Awe...come on 2123. This thread ain't about autos or otherwise. Exactly...just how would anyone take your response, other than OPE?? Hello? Now that's said, take back your 'whatever' and we'll be buddies. I, like anyone else here, was thinking you were simply talking about OPE, which you did clarify.

When it comes to OPE, I don't sweat the fuel costs. I don't go thru nearly as much as some of you do. But even then, I don't buy the high octane stuff for my OPE, cause it simply doesn't make any difference in performance.

When it comes to talking about what other people may think I'm talking about, it can get confusing at times, cause it's hard enough for me to keep track of what I'm talking about, let alone others. If I had to worry about what others think I'm talking about, it would more-or-less make me wanna talk less just so that I didn't have to worry about it.

But fear not, that won't make me wanna start making less threads.

Damn...you opened up with a great start...then the tint of arrogance started up. Then it ended up full blown. Come on man, it's ok 2123...everything's gonna be ok, the sun's gonna shine tomorrow. A new day, know what I mean?

I was always told to never use ethanol because it degrades your fuel lines and carb seals etc. Also think about it, if your fuel has additives like ethanol in it, that means you have less fuel overall and you will have paid for less fuel in the end. I personally only use 94 octane or higher (91 if I have no other option) with no additives. Unless its winter, then I put a little fuel stabilizer in if im gonna store the saw for a while. I use Lucas Semi Synthetic 2 cycle oil or Amsoil 2 cycle. I have a thing about using the expensive oil :p. In my opinion, why take the chance of using a lesser fuel? Just get the high octane and best oil and then you can rule out your fuel if any problems arise.

There's just no pleasing you.

I'm thinking that even if I tried, you wouldn't be happy. Not that I would, cause that's just not in my character, and besides, it implies weakness.

Remember, this is just an internet forum and it means nothing at the end of the day. It is what it is.

BTW.....if you didn't like my response, why did you "like" it?

Ah... The voice of reason. I have to say that I'm not in that crazed hobbyist group. Maybe that's why it doesn't make sense to me.

It all makes sense now. [emoji41]

In the F&L forum when somebody is asking about mix, the question will generally center around cost, not what would be perfect if their saw just happened to be a race car, and not a tool they planned on beating the **** out of for one season, buying a new one, and writing it off as a business expense.

Sorry for the run-on sentence:(

The same reason I 'liked' this post. This ain't about 'weakness' on your behalf, or otherwise. It's all about us just sittin back, shootin the chit. That's all. Lighten up a little. You were on a helluva roll here lately, not being so opinionated, I know you wanna speak your opinion on things, from career-wise, and I respect that. It got really overwhelming in the past, don't go back there. Kick ya damn boots off, relax, and respond here on this crazy-ass chainsaw site. I'll tell ya now, these SOB's on this site are gonna wreck me...I've already bought two saws since I've been here. These CAD bastards are gonna get me. Anyhoo, just post up without the 'defensive' back side to your deal. I don't know how else to say it. I don't think I see anyone else here on site who posts things up, then leaves it with basically a big ol 'defensive' gesture. That's all dude, you tell me your take on things. It's all good.

All of my equipment gets drained if sitting more than a month, I especially make sure to drain my snowblower before summer.

I put new fuel lines on my little edger 3 weeks ago. About 5 days later, I smell gas in the garage. Sure enough, the little edger wet itself. So, I drained it and figured I just put enough fuel in to get the job done when needed. When I drained it, I turned it upside down. I needed to use it tonight so I put a bit of gas in. It immediately starts dribbling on the ground. Tried to get it running but it always died. Took the fuel cap off to look to see why I wasn't getting fuel. Couldn't get the fuel line out, kept bending my wire. Doubled up the wire and finally got it out. The filter was sticking straight up out of the gas, that's why it wouldn't prime. The line was stiff as a board and I thought it would break when I bent it. I shoved it back down and filled it full with gas. It ran fine and I finished the edging. That was Tygon tubing. The smaller return line is Oregon and I think it's ok. The point is, the ethanol fried my fuel line in 3 weeks. My test came up 12 to 13% ethanol.

Did ya happen to realize that when you show up, you tend to make things tense? Sometimes, the obvious is so simple and apparent, people tend to it pass it right by. ;)

Come on 2123...here we all go again, having to 'bow' to 2123's deal/mentality again.

89 octane E-free for my saws, and I put marine gas stabilizer in it anyway. Unless you test the gas, you just do not know.
