That's why I have more than two saws
Thats fair enough...
That's why I have more than two saws
Do you guys think the the 361 makes sense if you are going to run 2 saws? I would be inclined to have a 5100 or a 346xp for the smaller saw and a 372xp/7900/441 for the larger saw. It seems to me the 361 is a great saw if you are going to own 1 but it is caught in the middle if you are going to own 2 saws. Love to hear ppl's thoughts...

Yeah I know. No one in my area has any 357's right now. I have some time to wait though so it's no big deal. I definitely want to handle a 357! Thanks! If you dont like the handle angle of jonnys try 357 husky then, its the same engine in different plastics and the handle angle is different ( better imo)
Stopped by a Stihl/Jonsered dealer this afternoon. I looked at the 361. The one they had on display had a 20 inch bar on it. I'll go with an 18 bar. I did handle the Johnny Red 2156. It seems a little lighter then the 361 but I don't think I can get used to the handle bar angle. ..
That handlebar angle is my issue with the Jreds......

I also stopped by a Husky dealer but he didn't have any 357's in stock.
I really wanted to get a Husky next. I've never owned one before so I wanted to try one. Having said that the Stihl 361 has a lot going for it for me anyway's. I currently use a 021 and 029, (probably going to sell the 029). I'm used to the on/off/choke control and the inboard clutch on the Stihl's. I'm not to crazy about the toolless gas and oil caps though. I kind of like the older style caps. I've never handled a 357. The closest saw to it that I've handled was a 359. I liked the way it felt. Are they close to one another? The MS361 is definitely very NICE and could very well be my next saw! Thanks again!
thats also issue with stihls...
No, at least not with the 361, 026/260.
I believe the Husky angle is about 7 degrees, while the Stihl one usually is 5 degrees, I believe - that difference doesn't matter at all.
The 359 is the same size and wieght as a 357, little less horsepower and a little better torque, probably little more user friendly unless you're real good at keeping it in the powerband. Great saws
I got a new 353 a couple of weeks ago, and am most impressed, its my first husky, and it fulfilled all my small saw needs. Its probably the most comfortable saw ive used, pretty much zero fatigue after a days cutting, and alot of fun to use.
However, it may be a little screamer, but for most of the cutting i do it sure aint fast. Limbing and soft woods, yum yum says the saw, but cutting 20" english oak into firewood size, expect to be there for a while.
But im used to using my 044 for pretty much all applications, so it all really depends on what size wood youre usually up against, the volume of wood you cut and how much spare moolah you have in your pockets.
isnt saw shopping fun, ooh the endless possibilities..
