Here is the beginning of my Mall 2mg restoration. A HUGE thanks goes out to Mr. Bow Saw for providing me with invaluable advice and for selling me the parts to finish this saw!

This is a pic of the saw broken down into parts...a significant task in itself.

I wanted to split the tank portion of the saw because it was gummed up inside with some clay colored stuff, kinda like half-dried latex paint.

Here is the piston with no scoring and some crusty on top.

Looking good so far, don't get that piston in backwards!

Mr. Bow Saw,

That is as nice a piece of finished work as I have seen done, the detail is excellent! Absolutely love that style of bow bar. You have a piece there to be proud of, VERY NICE!!!

There are still good people in the world....and they own Remington chainsaws.

Thanks Hagen70!!! I've lived long enough now that I'm closer to the end than the beginning. Having done that, a person can become cynical as they trudge through the human condition. How refreshing it is to have someone just up and give you something you really enjoy. Thanks Hagen70 for the 660. I couldn't believe it when I opened the box....it was like Christmas in July. Stay tuned for the finished product. Got a couple in front of her, but the 660 will live again. I always heard there were only 10 bad people in the world, but they move around a lot. Nice to know you're not one of them. Don't know what I did to deserve this nice gesture, but maybe I can do the same for you someday.:msp_wink: God bless you!

How many Mall 2mg transmissions are out there. I got a second one and it is smaller and has 3 bar studs instead of the 5 on my old one. Interestingly the one shown in my IPL is the smaller one. I know of the sump pump, concrete vibrator, and auger from literature. Does anyone have these other transmissions? Do they ever show up for sale?

I have never seen any 5 bar stud 2MG trans.
I have two 2MG'S, one 1MG, and two 12A's. They all have three bar studs

Most all OMG's have five bar studs.
I have seen one OMG with three bar studs

Rare Remington SL5G

Well it seems to be anyway. This is the first I have come across one.
It has great compression and spark. It will need the carb and tank cleaned up.

Can't wait to see what you do with this one Mr. Bow Saw. I'll try to get permission to post some photos of a BantamG I just finished for someone. Don't see many of those either.

First one I've seen as well. Nice find!

Thanks.

I have been thinking about doing a full restoration on it.
Yea I would like to see Bantam G.

This one was turning over ruff and sticking in spots.
It did have rusty bearings but once I got the cylinder off
it turned over easy. The cylinder came off hard.
Turns out the cylinder was warped, out of round.
I had a parts saw, so took the cylinder from there.
Also one half of the crank case was corroded to much.
Use the parts saw one, it was much better.

So I thought I would try a little different look on this one.
I hope you like it.

This saw gets a Bow bar also. I had the Bow bar for a few months just waiting
for the right power head to come along.
