Now that's creative thinking outside the box. Beautiful! Darned if that couldn't be considered 'military issue', but I don't know that uncle sam would have been able to justify all the grunts it would have taken to haul it in the field. Love the work Mr. Bow Saw. Thanks for keeping the thread lively..:msp_thumbsup:

Wish I had a better shot for you, but my wife lost them off her xd card. I think you can make sense of them, cause you know what they are. Bantam badging is original, with old paint over spray. Touched up the muffler before shipping. Carb cover was not painted as the original paint was still in great shape. Just what the owner wanted. Runs like new. One heavy saw. I'm working on a Silver Logmaster, Gold Logmaster and 660 restoration, in my spare time between private owner saws. I'll post photos as I get to them.

My Mall Model 6 is giving me fits. Does anyone know what the resistance should be for the coil? I've got no spark and the coil is what I keep tracing it back to.

Does anyone know where I can get a coil? Do the model 8 coils work? I see those listed on ebay.

Also looking for proper timing procedure.

Thanks a ton. I've got a show on the 20th, everything is always last minute. SHOOT!

Thanks Teddy, I'd like to do the same. I was fortunate enough to be allowed to resurrect the beast and cut some sizable wood with it prior to final restoration. Has a lot of bar out there. It was nose heavy when I used it.:chainsaw:

That is a nice Looking Bantam G. It looks just like the Super 75 G.

The Mall 8 coil is different. The 6 and 7 used the same coils in must of them.
There a few 6 and 7's that used a shorter coil.
So does yours have the long or the shorter one?
There is a long one for sale on ebay.

Here is how to set the timing.

The off-white looks a lot better than a stark refrigerator white.

Good job 21.

Thanks. It's not a full restoration, just a specified makeover. The saw had some original paint on the body, which I was able to peel off and carry with me. The original color was 'oak white' which happens to match Rustoleum Enamel Light Almond perfectly. After stripping the metal, I applied a coat of automotive primer and two coats of the enamel. It turned out smooth. I agree, the color is much more appealing than stark white.

Followed the timing procedures to a tee for my Mall Model 6. We now have spark! Now I'm going to finish up some carb work and it'll be time to fire.

Thanks for your help!

Have spark and cleaned out the passage on the carb that I thought was clogged. Went to start the model 6 and it ran first pull. It ran for about a minute then died suddenly. Checked to see if I had spark, which I did. After playing around with the carb pretty much all afternoon I'm thinking I'm going to have to tear the carb completely apart, clean, and put it back together. I have NO idea why I have a fuel delivery problem? Anyone have any general tips to these carbs that may help me?

Lost,
Marty :bang:

Mr. Bow Saw is probably your best bet. That saw uses the old Tillotson gravity fed float type carb.Does the float appear to be operating properly and is the needle valve and body free of debris or varnish?

Checked the float bowl and found all kinds of grit and scale from some where? The float was operating correctly though so I cleaned it out, but still no flow. I'm really thinking I need to start over again with a complete disassembly of the carb. While I have it apart I was wondering what anyone might suggest for cleaning it out or checking in any problem areas.

Thanks for the replies,
Marty
