lmao:lol:

the king of kings!!! the X27:crazy:

the x27 wont touch most of the oak I need to split. iv got one but I save it for things that are easy to split when I don't need to swing 8lbs. its a good splitting axe but it is def not a maul. x27 has my absolute FAVORITE handle. not the one with the orange on it but the all black smooth fiber plastic one, 36" variety.

i do have a question related to splitting and ease of splitting. iv never split Dough fur, anyone split good hard wood like oak and Doug fur? how easy is Doug fur to split vs a good hard wood?

I've split gobs of Doug fir over the years.... It's generally not difficult to split....I'd say it's similar to red oak as far as calories per split goes, of course being a softwood it behaves differently when you whack it with an axe.....and, it's not nearly as stinking heavy as oak!

Most pine I've split was more difficult than Doug fir, if that helps any.

if your referring to my pics, iv tried the x27 enough times on this oak. that's why its in the garage. I usually use the x27 dang near exclusively. iv got over 30 cord thru one of them and have a brand new one ready (its been sitting for 5 years in the packaging) when the first one breaks. the x27 just aint cutin it for this wood 90% of the time. sure the limb wood it can handle just fine but im not switching back and forth from maul to x27 to maul and so on. that drives me nuts.
👍👍

I was referring to your pics. I misunderstood. I thought those pics were of axes. Noone expects an ax to replace a maul - both have their places.

Yah this oak sucks. Ya know when you swing the X27 so fast you feel like the head is going a bagillion miles per hour into the log……. and then it just goes “thud” and bounces off every time.

This oak is so twisted up. Obvious reason, they were out in an open area exposed to full wind. I cant wait to be done with this stuff to be honest 🤣

G'day fellers,

I went back out to Will's today to pick up the rest of Thursday's scrounge. Not a lot but it's something. It got rained on but once that dries off it's going in the stove.

Stopped in at Mitch's on the way home and cut up a couple of logs for him. One had dried mud up the guts that dulled the chain on the 460 in about 8 cuts (semi-chisel too). So it wasn't much either but something.

Driving home had a nice view of the snow that fell on Monday. It snowed at our house briefly but mostly we had sleet and crunchy rain down here. They had about a foot and a half up on the hills.

Working on a Holden today. Thought Cowboy might appreciate it.

I'll catch up with the 6 pages I missed tonight.
I saw a BMW m4(can't remember the exact model) last night, instantly thought of a "GTO". Still like the early ones much better, the real early ones a little less.

When dealing with the oak out back earlier this yr I was thinking, man is this stuff heavy, and it takes at least two years to season. I really like my black locust :sweet:.

I did that recently at Lowes with a skid of mulch. Turns out that a skid was 4 yards of mulch. 75 bags on that pallet at $2.00 a bag.
I knew it was someone on here 😆.
Sure yours didn't look that bad. I would have either had them push it in a bit, or tossed 10-20 bags to the front, doesn't take too long and makes it ride much better.
