Finally got the ac working in the vw. Turned out it was a pressure regulator in the compressor that was worn out. Supposedly quite common in the mk4 vw. 10 minuets to suck the refrigerant out, spent about a half hour cleaning the head of the compressor up, then popped the head off, swapped in the new regulator put it all back together, replaced rhe receiver dryer added 8 Oz of oil, let it vacuum down for a while amd added 750g of refrigerant. (Took out 742 grams so just a tad low) and she makes nice and cold. One thing I hate about 4 cylinders, is you can tell the ac compressor is running driving around. Deffinatly sucks a bit of power to spin it.

Now here’s some retardation.

20 acres plots they are trying to get $12-$13k an acre in northeast Sandpoint. Guaranteed those prices will drop soon enough. Land isn’t even cleared nor road access created.

It’s $40K -$90K an acre here. Tax assessment on our place has tripled in last couple years thanks to all the people moving here.

Really starting to miss my old truck
IMG_3653.jpeg
I think my current one is going to need a transmission, kinda hesitates when shifting and zero hold back going down hill in 2nd, just goes to idle and picks up speed. And front axle shaft needle bearing is seized on one side, will probably need axle shaft and hub/ wheel bearing assembly. Had to have injector cups changed. Thought I would be money ahead with this truck but not working out that way 🤪. Doesn’t help I’m working with the guy I sold my old truck to and see it every day 😏. Current one does have much better heat and a/c and extended cab doors though😁. I noticed I’m not getting any more offers to buy my pickup, lol.

Is is really that pricey? That’s nuts.
Yes and yes. Average home price in Boise was $500,000 couple months ago. It really is nuts (to say it nicely) a lot of people moving here, yes mostly from California but other areas too, last year Idaho was the fastest growing state in the nation. Our roads system is overloaded, hospitals and emergency services can’t keep up. Takes a month or more to get an appointment with the local doctor. If you’re an average working person you can not afford to buy a home unless you already have a lot of money saved up. Glad we bought our home when we did, if we had to buy now our payments would be $3000 a month. Thinking about moving to California sense it’s empty now, lol.

Bro you ain’t kiddin

Now I would guess this is due to demand from rich Californians and/or resource rich land with spring fed aquifers, wildlife, scenic beauty, milder weather, and freedom. Is that accurate?
Yes, well not sure about weather but the rest yes. I think freedom is a big part, especially after the covid insanity. We did have lock downs here but it is more “free” than some other areas for sure, especially California.

Well. I work in a hospital so that may bode well for me. Also my wife is a nurse which is a high demand career. Pretty much looking for something different. I have assets, toys, resources, money, low debt, and 3 kids who will be starting college in about 3 years. Filling out multiple Form 1’s and 4’s is my next play.

We are zoned 'low density residential' here. Neighbour had 5 acres, 4 of which was either wet gully for 6 months of the year or on a 20°+ gradient (or both) and half of which is uncleared. Subdivided the best acre off which included their house, sheds, vege gardens and a small dam and sold the 4 worst acres for $650,000 six months ago. If you don't mind.
