One can never have enough lighting in their workplace. I can't stand it when I have to work on something in low light conditions.
Yeah, it's kinda funny out there right now, I have to move my grinder around to use the light when I'm filing a chain. I need to get a nice light for that, I've seen some that would be perfect, unfortunately they weren't cheap. I could mount one of the led lights just above the bench instead of only having the 2 I have in the middle, but as I said, I need to do what I can not to deviate from the order I need to work on it. But it sure would be easy to get distracted!

:crazy2:imo, in ur case optional. 🤷‍♂️

i rarely used the swivel on mine. but then they were more for fixed set up than just any old job a vise mite do. no need to spend the $$ on a Wilton machinist vise to hold some square tubing to hacksaw...
I want the swivel so I can hold projects one way, and then turn it 90 to sharpen chains the other way. Then again, having my other vise mounted the opposite way may work just fine. I know as I work out there I'll find my own way of doing things with what I have.

Not sure I told you before, but my grandparents owned the funeral home in Antioch.
I spent a lot of time up there in the summers, even went to school there for a bit in 2nd grade.
Glad we didn't stick around.
For mice a 5 gallon bucket trap is awesome, you can use antifreeze in it if you don't have any cats or dogs around.
No, you hadn't told me that before. I know Antioch well. It was just about 5 miles North of us straight up route 83. We were in Round Lake Beach.

And yes, I'm aware of the 5 gallon bucket trap. I've actually still got one down there right now that's probably got 10 dead mice in it that the previous owner left there. I've got to dump it out and put new antifreeze in it. I don't know what the previous owner kept in the barn, but I've got my larger tractor, a couple of sleds, and some snow plows that I really don't want the wiring harnesses chewed up on. So, I'm going to throw about 20 traps out there in the next week or so.

I know that route well. Grandma lived right behind where the Walgreens is now, across the way from the lake there(Antioch lake). You can tell the house because it has a large burr oak in the back yard you can see when driving past the lake.
Funny, just caught a mouse as I was typing that out. I couldn't find where my wife put the peanut butter, so I used butter instead, it worked lol.

So, not Antioch, CA?
🤣

I know, if anyone was gonna break one I'd think I would have, sad seeing that one broke, wonder what happened . You've seen some of what I've done with mine, I feel as though I'm not being brutally abusive, but I've sure put it thru its paces .
It had some water in it this weekend lol.
That was a two yr project, I needed something to do when I didn't have any cash for the barn, I really had no intentions of finishing it this yr. I need to rent a tracked skid to finish digging it, then get the clay, then rent a tracked skid again to spread the clay. We had a big bonfire/party here this last weekend and a friend of ours was here I wanted to look at it, he has his own excavating company and does a lot of work at lake properties. He sends me pictures of him digging sand out of his pond, he's taking out a couple hundred yards at a time, his pond is a bit bigger than mine😆.
There was a big Kioti tractor up in Maine for sale last year that was broke in half. Updated, I found the tractor. It is a 2019. Owner claimed it only had 800 hours on it. The two year structural warranty had expired. He wanted $32k for it.

That's a bummer, looked like a nice unit.
Mines a 2014 and a lot smaller, it's done some very hard work, not sure of the hrs as the meter broke at 181 many yrs ago(guess I beat on it too hard lol).

I have a new cable in the basement, maybe once the barn is staled up it will be a project I'm more inclined to do, maybe not  .

Can i ask how long it might have taken to split that, not including the stacking?
Gee, I didn't really time it. Didn't seem like long, I would guess no more than 30 minutes not working at a breakneck speed. Probably took as long to get dressed, move splitter from barn, fuel up, move back to barn, post pics to AS, etc.

Damn, that's my exact model tractor. Three years older, but same machine. Guess I'd better not abuse it too hard LOL!!! :) :) :)

Had an attack of the almost terminally stupids yesterday and today. Yesterday I ccut an almost horizontal 30" log free at the base...almost. As usual no clearance under it to make any sort of undercut so cut straight down. Naturally it settled before the cut was complete. No matter that I had down it dozens of times over the years and stuck the bar on most of them..;."Let's just keep whittling away. Yep, Jammed tighter than a tick. 28 bar/chain. Drop the MS441 power head and grab 24" bar. Started bucking at the outboard end - got about halfway and jammed bar again. Managed to free that up with wedges. Okay, bag the job and head home.

This morning I was all set with 32" bar on the 441 - finished bucking the log and freed up the 28" bar chain. Time to noodle the rounds. Grab the MS362 with freshly sharped 20" chain. Oh, yeah that's right, It is still sitting on the dining room table. So use the 25" bar. Nope, chain wouldn't noodle and the spare chain is haning on the 'to be sharped" nail. Back home and pooped around in the house with stints in the shop sharpening chainss and setting up the 441 with good (I hope) 20" chain.

Wx drizzly today and supposed to be real rain tomorrow so it will be a day or two to go back to noodle and load up.

Sometimes "stuff" just happens. We've all been there, done that. And most of us have done it many times! LOL. No injuries and no damaged equipment, so I'd consider that a "W". Hope you get it all bucked up after the rain ceases.

Last night we got 2 good size bears in the same picture! Not seeing many deer! :(

Still catching up on reading the posts!

I fixed my table saw today ... it needed a new switch. The new switch was not the same size, or wired the same and came with no instructions! Connecting the posts was pure guesswork and resulted in some circuit breaker resets.

Finally got it to work (4 wires all have to be right) and made wood spacers to make it snug!

The new switch was supposed to come Wed or Thurs, but did not arrive at HD till Fri! As a result, I had to use the circular saw for all the boards instead of the table saw. A lot of extra marks and drawing line instead of just setting the guide!
