Cut Split Stack Burn
Second night in a row firing up the stove
It’s that time of year, cold in the morning and evening but sweaty at noon

You've got a big head start on me for sure! I'm just glad I've gotten a start lol. It's an okay set up...almost the best I can do for the space constraints. The entire space is only 30'x35' and I park 2 pickups in there...and several motos. Besides the small welding area, I've got my mill and lathe on the opposite wall. Also a 30' long workbench that runs the entirety of the back wall.
In the near future, I might build an enclosed carport so I can move one of the trucks outside. I was also thinking of adding a 10x35 room off the side of the shop and moving all the welding and machining tools into that. At the very least, building a lean-to in order to move the 80 gallon 2 stage, noisy AF compressor outside.
Wow, sweaty by noon. I don't think we got over 40 all day, and rainy and windy as well. Miserable weather to be out there bucking rounds as far as I'm concerned. But I did buck another face cord or so.Second night in a row firing up the stove

Managed to get a bit more cleaned up out back on Saturday.
Theres a good sized cherry branch and a red oak that was damaged by that branch/the tree it's attached to just above the tractor in this picture we got down and cleaned up.

Then we got this one out of the pond and the other top and since I was still feeling a bit frisky I got the logs off above the "Y" and then a couple more off above the root ball. Before I cut the two off the base I made sure I got the root ball all loosened up, so now it just has a couple more 16" rounds I need to buck off it and I can toss it on the bonfire pit after the last big root ball is finally burned up.

I was glad I didn't break the tractor in half , but I didn't really think that would happen.
I rarely ever see a logging winch for a cheap or reasonable price around me.Man, I'd love to have a forestry winch Chip. I just can't justify the cost of a new one though when I have other things that I need first. I'll have to wait until I find a good deal on a used one, or I get all of my other priorities taken care of first.
Love the wood pile too!
I know a guy who brought a nest like that into his house. Soon as the nest got warm he had a swarm of pissy hornets in his living room.Found this bees nest on the ground under our 2nd story deck. We hadn't seen it before today. It was empty.

They're hard to even find for sale here. I've considered upgrading to a new one with remote control, since I mainly use it for falling and it makes me money, but with having a job so I'm not as dependent on that income it's less of a priority. I've been considering a lift, want to talk about not cheap, price a 90' lift .I rarely ever see a logging winch for a cheap or reasonable price around me.

i prefer to split firewood in fall/cool months vs summer. usually, i will gather the small splitting chips and make a close-in fire... for heat, to clean the area and ambiance, too!Wow, sweaty by noon. not sure he said that... spending more time out there with no walls, no heat... and such! lol....Beautiful, and CLEAN shop Sierra! I like what you have. I've got a little ways to go before I'm done setting mine up yet. Kind of like Chipper mentioned. I'll probably be spending a lot more time out there than I do during the Spring/Summer.
awesome clean up!Had a big dead oak blow over, got it cut up and hauled a truckload home. tree is about 36 inches across..

is that in your barn?I bucked up a face cord or so tonight. Not a lot, but we had rain on and off all day long, and I wanted to get out and at least get a little something done. After that I threw the 28" light bar on the 500 and sharpened the chain. Still haven't cut with the light bar yet, so I don't know if there's much of a difference in weight or not.

Don't answer him Jeff, he'll tell you you're chains aren't stacked up straight .is that in your barn?
suit urself! but... we shop pix of any sort! at least, i do! there is always a space clean enuff to do some work, or something. i am glad cooler weather is here, i plan to do some shop clean up and such... i like JpJ's big bench vise as much as i like MM's engine lathe!....I'm not posting any pictures of my garage here! It's a Mess with a capital M! I have a stick welder with a variety of electrodes and hand tools. While I would like to have an AC Tig machine, I feel I'd have to do side jobs to pay for it. If I really need to, I can use the equipment at work. I used to do side work but I got burned out on it and now just tinker for myself. I've been living welding and millwrighting for 30+ years. I enjoy my trade but when I get home, I want to do something different.
