I was inspired to get out the ole resinous wood today to get a fire going, so I did.
Split up a bit for the top of this pile of BL sticks.

This is the piece I took that stuff off from, I have another much bigger chunk of it that this came off.

Still used the torch to light them though :blob2:.
Man was that stuff smoking, my neighbors probably thought I was burning insulation scraps:laughing:.
For the longest time we used wood pellets and a shot of alcohol for starting fires and still do some. It works great. The wife has also made some little starters in paper egg cartons. Just some talo and dryer lint in each egg spot. Just tear one off and light it. Works well too.

I've done that too, except I mixed a batch up in a small container and just dumped them out, ready to light. Now I mainly use the torch! I bought the adapter to fill the 1lb tanks off my 20lb tanks, I don't even use a whole tank throughout winter.

Yeah, a torch works good too, but kinda noisy. Sometimes you need to be stealthy lighting the fire. Don't want to wake this little cutie...

What a cutie.
When our guys were young and they started to go to sleep I'd shake the bed, my wife was like what the heck, then I explained. I'm not getting up with them everytime the slightest noise is made, if you don't mind, I'll stop lol. They slept thru anything, "like babies" 😅 .
I had already raised two, glad she trusted me, now break out the torches .

Took the boy out to the shop tonight. He has a little car that launches discs out of it , but he only had one disc. We took some 1-1/2 PVC pipe , heated it and placed it between boards in a vice and let it cool. Bingo , sheet plastic! After some shaping, sanding etc. he has plenty of new discs.

We’ve had a border collie for 2 years, and they are more human than dog , incredibly intelligent, ours need a ton of outdoor activity weather hiking or playing per day , my better half is a runner and takes him in the trails every day for a 4 to 7 mile run, if he doesn’t get his exercise every day he gets a attitude lol 😆, some people don’t realize they are were breed working dogs and need to do it daily, View attachment 1228999
My border collie goes to work with me every day and does whatever she can do to help. Take yours fishing it’s my dogs second favorite thing next to working.

Ok, ok. I know not much, but it's started.

Had to run to horror freight to get those prop things this evening. Going to be a bit tedious, as I was jointer (ing ? Don't know what the past tense of running something across a jointer is.) Boards, I was just going till I got the side reasonably flat, then doing the other side, and didn't think about how much I was shrinking the width of the boards. So, I've been ripping two at a time as I'm going. Also realized I, some how, have a chip in my hand plane blade. 😳 so tomorrow morning after a run into town for a few things, I'll have to sharpen that. May pick up a smaller one while I'm in town. It kinda a two handed model, and I'm not quite coordinated to use it with one hand. It was my pops, so I'm also keen not to screw it up.

We did miss you kid, both because you were informative and entertaining! Glad to see you back, hope all has been well. Don't depress us like that anymore!

Did you ever get your guide license?

Looks good.
Are the things holding the insulation what you had printed off. Have you done anything with the printer, I know you were talking about the puzzle for your FIL(iirc).
Many times it's getting those first few done that takes the longest.
Those prop dealeos look like parts of a caulk gun on a pipe. Guess the car jack and the stick didn't work so well :innocent:.

Haha, yeah she's awesome. One of those later in life surprises that God blesses you with sometimes, but wouldn't want it any other way.
My two daughters with my wife weren't much of a surprise, figured out how that worked on the first 3. But, what was a surprise was that I could actually do anything with them. I had literally told my wife, any more and I cant help, physically I wasn't up for it. Then my second oldest daughters mom sent me a message to look up HLA-b27 after our daughter got some blood work done for back problems she was having. Long story short, I changed my diet, and went from having a hard time making it thru the day driving, to getting a job at 40 hauling drywall(not the smartest move BTW). So being in much less pain was my later in life surprises, I thought I was hard on my body, and now it's coming back on me. I was, and I do feel that, but it's way different.
But as for the blessings of my kids, I wouldn't want it any other way. It was very screwed up for a time, and relationships still aren't great with my older daughters, that's on them now as I haven't walked away. Still hopeful they come around like I did once I figured out I didn't have the stupidest parents in the world.
