I'm up at the cabin, waiting for Matt's arrival. Last WE of MZ season, and so far I'm "empty", so wish me luck!

Not that cold out, just 28*, but the cabin was only 32* and it was much colder up here, as everything (including the grape juice) is frozen solid!

Running the wood stove hard, and Matt should be here soon. His daughter had a track meet further away than he thought.

We have 6" of very fluffy snow. Only had to stop twice to clear the trail!

Should be good hunting conditions tomorrow. Hope it does not get too warm on Sunday.

When you are running a jointer, you are jointing.
Ah, thanks.
Looks good.
Are the things holding the insulation what you had printed off. Have you done anything with the printer, I know you were talking about the puzzle for your FIL(iirc).
Many times it's getting those first few done that takes the longest.
Those prop dealeos look like parts of a caulk gun on a pipe. Guess the car jack and the stick didn't work so well :innocent:.
Some of them I printed, I ran out, and printing off a full build plate took less time then running into town.
The new printer crossed 800hrs as of Christmas eve. I actually finished up the kids toys today. (Well the printer did.) I'll have to remember to take pictures of this stuff. My father in law decided he didn't want to come over with the other in-laws. (I don't blame him.) So I had an extra day to get it together. Which worked out very well. He was quite impressed with it. Wife did a good job finding the files, and the designer even had a pretty well thought out video to put it all together. I'll have to remember to take some pictures of the stuff I've printed. Have a few functional prints out in the shop already.
So, I was just going to get the normal ratchet cargo bars, but they only extended to 70". The blue ones I got extend to 114". Which is perfect for whay I'm doing. The handles do look exactly like a caulk gun. Kinda goofy, but hey they seem to work pretty well so far. $16.00 each so if they break I won't be too mad.
No the handyman jack didn't work out too well. Zero help doing this boards, so needed something I could position, and make right with one hand.

We did miss you kid, both because you were informative and entertaining! Glad to see you back, hope all has been well. Don't depress us like that anymore!

Did you ever get your guide license?
Assistant guide license. No, I have been slacking on that. I just need to renew my CPR and first aid quals. The Guide who I'll be working with has been on me about it. I guess I better get back at it! Thanks for reminding me Mike. 👍🏻

Pops and I have been busy cutting some dead standing oaks at the church we attend. The back load will be saw logs and the front firewood.

We added three loads of smaller stuff to the firewood pile.

And one load of ugly stuff to the big uglies pile.

I’m pretty excited to get these sawn up !!

If it's brown it's going down. I hope you get one.

Lots of driving yesterday to have me in this stand this morning

Her meet was just over the GW bridge!!

Drove like a bat outta h3ll to get to the cabin by 11:45!

Hopefully old MustangMike connects on one today!
For a second I thought they were lined up to buy coffee cups with their numbers on them :drinkingcoffee: . You can tell what's on my mind right now.
Back in the day(early 90s), giving them the $20 to get back across that bridge was a great feeling 👋, can imagine what it cost these days in a semi. One thing I always thought was wild, when you were sitting on any of the bridges on or too long Island, you could feel them shaking when traffic on the other side was going by.
Good luck Matt.
Did you see my post about the area precision scope mounts(34mm) for 50 bucks, great deal.

How did the kiddo do at the meet? You have some pretty awesome youngins.

Getting it done up there!
Did you get a mill?
Heck yeah we are !! Lol

I don’t have one of my own but a neighbor does. He charges $60/hr plus blades. Not sure what it is for a mill as it’s been around for a loooooooong time. I’ll post pictures when it happens !!

Top of the morning to ya Gents!

Thought I'd share a picture of a bar tip I punched out and replaced for a friend yesterday evening.
Now I know many of you fellers already know this, but I'm going to reiterate for those that don't.
The importance of flopping your saw bar!
As you can see in the picture one rail is burred much worse than the other. That was obviously caused by more friction on the badly burred rail.
Over time this will affect the longevity of the entire bar and even the sproket. Improper chain tention plays a roll in this also.
For example. Too tight or too loose.

Flop your bars regularly gentleman. Your saw and wallet will thankyou. I clean my rails and flop my bars every time I take the chain off. About every ten tanks I'd say.
Like I mentioned earlier. I'm not trying to be a know it all, but some folks just don't know better until they are shown or taught. I know most of you fellers already know this, but the picture is a good example of what happens when you don't regularly flop your bar.
The rest of the bar was salvageable with a little TLC.

These burrs can literally be razor sharp. I'm not kidding. They can slice your fingers right open to the bone! Always wear the proper PPE (leather or thick cotton gloves) when handling badly burred saw bars! 👍🏻

Cut safe, stay sharp and be aware! 👍🏻

Ran the third leg in the 4x400, did well. Passed one girl.
In long jump, she did 14.7. I thought was pretty good, but she is disappointed. Wants to be over 16 already…
That's why I like those kids. Hard workers! A rarity these days.

Not really, he is pretty selective

More than once I’ve seen him not pull the trigger as the doe were too small for the effort to butcher them.

I guess that’s one of those things you learn with age. My nephew, Chris, if it is brown it’s down (well I bet it wouldn’t matter if it was still in spots for that boy). Me, once the freezer is close to topped off I get selective. But Uncle Mustang, he is selective from the first day of the season to the last…..

To each there own
