Thanks, yes this class fills quickly. It’s a lottery system to get in. She is annoyed kids with good grades don’t get preference. Luckily I know all the automotive instructors, might have to pull a few strings for her.
I guess we're fortunate that we have a great program at a community college only 10 miles away. Some of the classes are offered in the evening, which I presume is because a number of the kids/adults are already working somewhere, but hasn't been an issue getting scheduled. My daughter is a night owl, so she's OK with it anyway.

Can't tell ya' how excited I am.
Heading to Spruce pine NC with chainsaws, drywall tools and electrical tools.
I'm one of those people that's always out of the loop but was looking for a way to get down there to help without a bunch of extra guessing and how to's.
Finally found the opportunity and I can't wait.
Leaving Jan 13 for a week and pulling a skid loader as well.

Alrighty fellas, I am stumped

Anyone know what this is??

Sawyer? Grizz??

You older gents know older firearms

Guy in a gun group is wondering what it is. Story is, a widow is selling her deceased husbands toys…

I'd give $100. (sorry, it is an inside joke at another forum I am in.)

I don't have a timeframe yet. I'd guess roughly 1890-1900 or 1910

French sporting break-action shotguns made by the Manufacture d'Armes et de Cycles de Saint Étienne, later known as Manufrance (5 of them)

More info I found regarding proof marks:
You want the left column for St. Etienne. Poudre sans fumee means smokeless. Poudre Noir means black powder. Since I think it is from around the dawn of black powder, the proof marks can help date it. Someone much more knowledgable than I could date it from the markings, provided they are still present. One other clue is that the manufacture date may be under the buttplate, and the buttplate material also helps to date the antique.

Here is a "between the wars" example of what Manufrance (St. Etienne) was capable in the years between WWI and WWII. BTW, all the French automatic arms were made in the same plant as your antique. (up to ~1985)

You can make shims from beer or pop cans too and try to get it as close as you can

I only moved the top cap on 2 of the bunks, and haven’t put any shim in yet. If I can’t find shim I’m happy with, I’ll push the cap back down and pull the bunk up. It’s a little over 1/16” variance, and the carriage is back on. I’m gonna take more off of the mill ends, and measure thickness at different spots.

Not American is my guess.
Saw this and thought of you lol.

Question to anyone who has put up a steel building recently. What company did you buy from and how was the transaction. My buddy has two Carolina steel buildings and loves them unfortunately they stopped dealing in NY . Looking to get a 30x50 with radiant floor heating I’ll be doing the pour and heat install
I went with Simpson Steel... Van Buren , Ar. I wanted the their truss setup for the head space inside. The bottom chord of the trusses is 14ft high if you want a lift or anything inside.. I felt they were a good experience

Took all day, quite happy with how it turned out. For some reason I couldn't quite get all the boards even, and I still have to figure out how to get the red chalk line off the lower boards. But I think it looks good.
Late to the game, but Vinegar should work.

For mice I use the 5 gallon bucket trap. Give them a ramp to the bucket and use a soda can on a dowel. Put peanut butter on the can and add enough water to drown them. One year i used fermented corn I feed chickens and got this overnight.

Can on a dowel?

I am taking welding at the local community college starting next month. They rarely have an opening there, especially for an older student who isn't attending full time, but I always wanted to learn.
I worked for a welding shop almost 50 years ago, but we did things like fix torches and deliver rental welders. Did very little welding ourselves.
I am going to try and get good at TIG welding aluminum.

Hopr your daughter loves it and does great!
When I was working a full time job years ago, I took an intro welding course at the local community college. Course was tailored to getting people into welding to support the local steel mill. Good stress relief from the day job.

Thanks I’ll look into them . So far I’ve looked at three companies and nothing really stood out with them

Good morning guys.

I wanted to take the day off, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. I have a couple of hours of work to do. Heading to town in a bit.

I’ve been going through a major purge of stuff in my house. I don’t know if I mentioned, but we brought about a full stall full of “accumulation” into my living room this late summer. Most of it was from my mother’s house, and some of it was from some of my previous houses. I figured it to be about 75 boxes. I’m about 50 boxes into it right now, but progress is slowing because now the bottom boxes are larger, heavier, and more full. But the stuff needs to be gone through!

So far I’ve turned about 50 boxes into about 10 bins of long-term storage stuff and a half of pick up load of trash so that’s a definite improvement.

First impression was an underlever box lock that survived because it smashes one’s trigger finger under recoil and wasn’t shot much. 😉 That said, any chance it has proof marks on the bottom of the barrel lump? That might get us to the proper country and maybe a brand.

If he’s lucky maybe the inquirer can pick up guns for what the owner told his wife he paid for them. 😉
P.S. I would not be surprised to find out it is Turkish… A gut reaction to the embellishments, impractical trigger guard, and overall shape led me there.
