My friends have one like yours. It drives them.nuts. it will get up to boiling point and shut off. After is stops boiling the stove comes on again and repeats itself again and again. I told them to return it because it is defective.
I'm not expecting this stove to last long, my wife is in denial about it. I'd bet it makes it 3-5 years before it breaks or I smash it.

Start watching Craigslist now, you got plenty of room in that barn to store a new one .
All joking aside, I replaced the washer(CL) and the fridge(CL), in the last three weeks. Those were originally purchased on CL in 09 when we first bought this place, I think we got our money out of them.
The "new" fridge was only $200, and it's a 2012 Frigidaire our old one is nearly the same unit, but a 2005. The old one stopped circulating cold air to anything up higher, but the compressor had made noise for yrs, so when this happened I knew it was time(the bottom is still cold though lol). The new to us fridge has a leak on a small hose that comes off the defrost for the freezer, but it works great. That's an easy to get part, or I could just use some flex seal :innocent:. I have some vinyl floor underlayment under it currently(like a diaper) and it doesn't even leak, but if you pour water into it from the freezer it will leak. It ruined the guy I bought it from floor(very nice home) because he never did anything about it lol.
As for the stove, I changed it to electric when we bought the place, I hate dealing the propane people around here. I installed a glass top electric, and it worked well for like 7 yrs, then I replaced a switch and it worked for a bit longer. Then a few yrs ago it went out, the computer board, so I replaced it with another CL unit. That worked great and still does, but theres a big crack across the top, no-one knows what happened 🙄.

Has anyone from AS been over to work on it? Just throwing out possible reasons from the diagnostic flowchart...

We have the microwave that was installed when we built the house. Since new it's blown the breaker every 15-100 uses. We had the service technician here 3 times under warranty and it never acted up. We've lived with it for 15 years and our patience has about run out. We're probably going to replace it but then we'll have to replace the stove so they match(built-in).

When we do change it this one is going to meet a couple pounds of tannerite.

So this happened last night:

I was absolutely stunned. I was trying to loosen a shackle on the front bumper of the Jeep and it came apart. I wasn't even torquing it that hard, in fact with the handle design, you can't really put that much on it without hurting your hand. I've had it for 30+ years and the warranty is 25 years - I don't have the original purchase receipt anyway. I checked the Leatherman website and don't see replacement parts I can purchase to repair it. I have other, newer multitools, but would like to fix this if for no other reason than nostalgic. I wore it to work every day for a long, long time and it saved me from headaches on more than one occasion when it was the only tool I had. I've worn out at least 3 belt cases with it. Darn it! That's what I get for helping to tow my daughter's friend off the side of the road.

I've had this one nearly as long:

But it's just a smidgen larger than the original Leatherman so it doesn't quite fit in the leather case. The woven case for it is long gone. Anyone have a good, reasonably priced source for cases?

I have a room partitioned off in the garage that we use as a root cellar. Incandescent bulbs are the only heat source and it's kept our stuff from freezing down to -30.
I have a similar situation out in a barn on my place. It used to be used for horses, so there are horse stalls in it. I cleaned a couple of them up to use as root cellars. At first I was using the 250 watt heat lamps. Those were expensive; I figured there must be a cheaper way. So, once again I looked on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace and found a couple of old radiant oil heaters. They work quite well and I'm able to keep the rooms at 40-50°F consistently.

The new washing machines s- ck. They do not clean dirty clothes. What do Biden and the EPA know about getting dirty. I hear that the new dishwashers s-ck too.
They do!!! My wife is constantly asking me to “fix” the dishwasher because it sucks donkey balls

How am I supposed to fix it????

She is too used to being married to a “Mr Fix it” and I dunno how to make a POS clean….

Maybe take the nameplate off and put it on a washer you find on Craigslist that was made 20 years ago? Refurbish it, install it while she's gone, and tell her you fixed it!

My grandfather had the same reputation - as many of us do, but especially those that were raised during the Great Depression. One time my young cousin had an old doll that broke, head or arm or something ripped off beyond repair (I was not involved, i swear.) But he took it to fix anyway. Somehow, he found the exact doll still for sale at the store. He gave it to her with his reputation intact as the best fixer!
