It's OK stuff. Not the end all be all. We used it on the trucks and conveyers/salt spreaders at the township. Needed re applied after the trucks got washed off, or we had rain for a week, or we plowed slush... Basically anytime the film got washed away. At minimum it will need reapplied yearly on the trucks we didn't plow with.

something didn't go right, used it several times with good results. Only thing I never liked about it is it needs top coated.(extra expense on an already very expensive product.) Switched to using a rust converter and 2 part epoxy paint on frames. My cousin did similar on his 74 f-150 frame back in 2014 and so far there still no signs of rust coming through.
It does say that you can top coat it. I didn't see anywhere on the can saying that it had to be top coated. I have used this paint on a few other items and it seems to be holding up fine.

Had a good but fast weekend. Not many ducks flying for opener, but we ended up getting 10 between the two mornings including three redheads, which are amongst the best eating ducks IMO.

Tried to put up some pictures, but most are too big for this new silly photo hosting that they’re using.
I haven't gotten a redhead yet. With my eyes, I try to stick to larger ducks or else I would end up with a limit of shovelers. I did shoot a canvas back once, that was pretty good.
 
Sounds like a good start to the season! I was out scouting yesterday morning and I think I found where I want to set up for our duck opener next Tuesday. My favorite ducks for eating around here are definitely wood ducks. They don't stick around for long though. The first sign of frost and the wood ducks and teal start heading south.
Our teal season started, but they don't start pumping water into the public lands so there's little water to set up in. Plus, it's been hot out.
 
Regarding POR-15; It says right on the can it is supposed to have paint over the top. At least the last can I bought said that.

Regarding Fluid Film, I use it on steel I don't want to rust that is generally stored inside. I know Easterners sometimes spray it on the underside of vehicles. It is better than no protection, but is easily removed, as Sean says, The tin worm is hard to kill. Different formulations of steel have varying resistance to the tin worm.
From what I understand on POR 15 it only needs to be top coated if it is going to be exposed to sunlight as it has no UV protection. I have painted sections of truck frame and other stuff on equipment that is hidden with it and nothing else and for the most part is still looks like the day I put it on. Other stuff that I have top coated was just spray bombed and it seems to be fairing well on the 5-10 year test so far.

Still waiting on a can. They are supposedly the most tasty wild duck if they have been eating the right stuff.

Side note: domestic duck is delicious-for those who have never tried it, I highly suggest you do. It reminds me of new york strip but without the beefiness. Lends itself to a fruit sauce like black cherry or orange.

Could you take the pictures you intend to post with a lower resolution on your phone? That would save you a step. The resolution is so high on the new phones which makes for nice pictures but they also take up a whole lot of memory. I'm still rockin' a Samsung S9 so I don't have any problems!🤣
I end up resizing in Photoshop and then saving for the web. That cuts out the meta data and other information and greatly reduces the size…
 
It does say that you can top coat it. I didn't see anywhere on the can saying that it had to be top coated. I have used this paint on a few other items and it seems to be holding up fine.
You only have to top coat it if it’s exposed to direct sunlight it will fade but won’t degrade the paint itself. No UV protectors in it
 
Yesterday I found a Husqvarna T535i XP for sale with the charger and a dead battery. I got it for $80. The guy told me that he really screwed up by killing the battery and not charging it before he put the saw away. Yes, the battery is dead as can be. I couldn't even jump start it. This morning I picked up a new battery off of FB Marketplace for $60. Here is what I cut up with the saw this afternoon on 2 charges. The tree is a Sugar Maple. The largest piece that I cut was just under 11". The saw has a 12" bar. I was shocked that this saw really cuts very well for an electric saw. I bought this for shats and giggles. I am actually going to use it to de-limb this Maple before dropping it. The limbs were taken off the tree using my hydraulic pole saw that runs off my tractor remotes near the bucket. The chain has never been sharpened until after I used it today. I do believe that my wife could use this easily.

I could but then they are lower quality shots forever, for every use. For the little posting I do on here I will just have to reduce each pic.
When a pic is too large to post, I just screenshot it and post that one. Then delete the screenshot when I'm done

I can't upload any of my pics now, but I just uploaded the one of the vette yesterday. Just tried one that was 1.4mg, no go. When I'm on my laptop I can screenshot them as thats what I normally do. Bummer I can't just load them up from my phone anymore 😕.
 
Okay, these ones are jpeg and it uploaded, most the others say HEIC, I have no idea what that is. Edit, those pics are 5.9 and 3.5 mb too. I'm getting ready to feel really stupid when someone tells me...

Pulling my hair out fellas. Got roped into working on a rider for a veteran friend of mine and I'm batting zero. At first it was flooding. Bad deal on the junk Nikki carb took care of that. Changed the watered down oil ( yes it flooded that bad. ) Now it will not run except on choke. Air cleaner or not makes no difference. Removed anti backfire device. No difference.
Carb apart and back together 3 times. No blockage to be found. Loosened gas cap, checked for flow to carb. I simply can not find a single thing wrong. Main jet clear, emulsion tube holes all clear........... Keep me away from dynamite please! Lol

Had a nice weekend at the camp and got some more work done on the screen room down by the water. I was short 3 2x6's for my rafters :rolleyes: so they will be going on next weekend as well as the purlins. Next step after that is to order the metal roofing. Thought of you cast iron guys when I prepared one of the geese I harvested recently. I marinated them in oil, salt and pepper, then onto the BBQ at 200 degrees until I got to an internal temp of 115. I let the breasts rest while onions were cooking in the pan and then dropped the breasts and some freshly minced garlic in to sear. They turned out pretty darn good, but I would like them just a tad more on the rare side. Good thing I have 9 more geese to experiment with.View attachment 1206650View attachment 1206651
Not pictured was the healthy dose of horseradish :baba: that accompanied the goose steaks.
I never had goose myself. I take that back. Dad went once and brought home a goose. Mom baked it like a turkey. Tough meat. Supposedly, a domestic goose is a German Christmas tradition. Tried baking a wild duck once with the same results. Now I fillet each breast, pound them flat, flour them and sear in hot olive oil until no blood comes out. Much better.

Was your goose still juicy and tender?
