I didn’t expect to see this on November 6… nor have 75° temperatures at 11 AM. Supposed to hit 78° later. It’s a small rat snake… 3’ max.

My son found a rat snake shed up near the ridge of the roof of the house we have under renovation. This while he was cleaning the gutters.

Looks like he is conformed to the bottom of a corrugated roof!

Morning fellers, sorry I'm so far behind but I'm catching up. Anything interesting been happening over there while I've been away? 🤔
Nope, pretty quiet around here. In fact, it seems like the texts and phone calls have kinda died off this week. 🫣

I didn’t have much hope for the presidential election so was surprised to see what happened.

In local politics newcomers cleaned house. Our 11 term mayor was voted out on nearly a 2 to 1 margin. We also had two city council seats up for grabs. One incumbent who I thought had done a good job in her first term as well as one incumbent who was recently appointed in July due to a resignation were amongst the five running for two seats. The appointee (who everybody thought had done a great job in a very short time) won his seat and the other seat was taken by a lifelong local resident who I know will do a good job as well. After years of a 3-2 gridlock, we have a strong mandate to fix a lot of the problems here and I would expect most votes will go 4–1 or 5–0 because the remaining toxic person doesn’t have any buddies left.

I was sad that a few of my friends didn’t get a chance to serve, but very happy with the choices nonetheless.

With the Rut full swing here, not as much free time to hang with you saw junkies.

But, here’s how everything has been going

Got a nice 8 with my Xbow on Sunday morning. Made a poor shot, backed out of the woods and sat nervously for two hours. My best buddy and I went in and found him bedded down in some thick stuff.

Then my pal calls me up in a panic asking me to bring my dog over to his place as his son “shot a good buck and we have no blood”. So Gunner was loaded up and we drove across town. The dog performed perfectly and we were able to recover the young man’s best to date buck. He was VERY happy and grateful of the dog. IMG_9550.jpegIMG_9552.jpegIMG_9565.jpegimage000000.jpeg

Not sure if I mentioned, I won a Weatherby Vanguard in my choice of caliber. I chose 25-06, well the FFL let me know it arrived today, so that will be coming home tomorrow.

I was also blessed recently with another pre64 model 70 Winchester. This one a Super Grade in 300 H&H. Luckily it came with 50 rounds. As the ammo is near impossible to findIMG_9537.jpegIMG_9531.jpegIMG_9530.jpegIMG_9524.jpeg

I bought one of those off a guy in Quebec for $300. He bought it after WW2 and shot deer, moose and caribou to feed his family. Sold because I didn't reload at the time and ammo was non existent. It's one of the few firearms that have passed through my hands I'd give good money to get back.

How strange the deer was wearing a ball cap. ;)

Two days ago at my place in the mountains, it’s about 20 degrees warmer down here in the valley. I’m going back up today. Supposed to snow Monday, not sure if that’ll bring me back or not. Either way, it won’t be much longer. I’m still not set up to be there in the winter, maybe next winter. We have a sawmill coming, it’s a Norwood HD36. It’s too late for this season, but I’ll get it set up over the winter and take it up in the spring.

One thing I see with mountain forecasts in the winter, is the low temperature already lower than the predicted low. Not sure why, but it’s common.
