Sure, one tree on that particular day lolI commend you on doing a very good job destroying your saw. It only took one tree to do that damage?
I’m glad you were able to avoid a full entry and stayed safe. I can’t even say I was too tired unfortunately just too eager and inexperienced I guess. Oh well lessons can be expensive sometimes lolI came close to having an entry into this thread today! I was helping my dad do some clearing, part of which involved dropping a few trees into a roadway that we'd blocked off. I got the first one dropped perfectly, it went exactly where I wanted it to go and we got it cleaned up pretty quickly. I was feeling kinda tired and getting ready to take a break when my dad finished dumping the debris into the fire and hollered "You ready to do the next one?". I bounced up, cranked up the saw and decided that I needed to make sure the tree avoided the 2nd piece of equipment, so I'd direct it more towards the roadway (and other trees). As soon as it started lifting I boogied outta there and the tree fell right into a few others and hung up. I ran over and started to cut the hinge wood, hoping that would dislodge it, but instead the tree just sat on my bar. i had to leave the saw there and my dad used the excavator to pull the tree over while I was ready to stop traffic. Once the tree came down I ran over to collect my saw, and this is how I found it! Yes, the hinge wood is under the wrap. I was 3 inches away from having a very bad day. The big lesson here is if you're tired, take a break and never, ever rush when you're felling trees.

Haha yes you can cite me in said noteNote to self: Don't do this.
Currently looks like a hellacious oak tree being slowly cut up and rolled away to the seasoning pile, almost looks smug to be honest. What’d the tree look like?
Looks like P/C crank clutch and flywheel can be salvaged
That’s hunting the good right there man, hadn’t even thought of that yet. Too busy looking for my dogs lmaoLook on the bright side, at least your spark plug survived.
Any idea if I can switch out the carbs? I did enjoy the auto tuning feature but if it’s a complete pain in the rear I’ll just cut my losses here I think.Looks like P/C crank clutch and flywheel can be salvaged
Sickening is the right word for it. I can still see cooling fins flying through the air if I close my eyes lol Only the good ones die young I guess, I’m sure Stihl needs more business anyway right? It's a pretty sickening feeling to helplessly watch some big mean inconsiderate falling tree smash a totally innocent chainsaw......lol.
For me it was a 395xp and a monster west coast cedar.....
this “series of unfortunate events” sounds so familiar. Honestly this saw owed me nothing she beat the odds quite a few times as it sounds like that 192 did. I was actually considering getting into climbing trees recently but this has made me second guess those dreams lol*Knocks on wood* Luckily, I haven't smashed a saw under anything. I try to make sure that my dogs aren't set once the kerf starts to open up.
My big oopsie involved one of my climbing saws. I lowered my 192t down to get topped off with fuel/oil when I was climbing a cedar...once I raised the saw back up, a series of unfortunate events transpired. I somehow had neglected to clip the end of the saw lanyard on and when I went to hook the lanyard ring on the hook on my climbing saddle, I missed.
The saw went straight down, probably about 70'...not too much damage(deep loamy soil underneath the tree,) just some cracked plastic. I actually raised it back up and finished the removal. I learned my lesson to be more cognizant in the tree and to confirm that my hardware is secured anytime I manipulate it.
