Bob,
In the states here I use an international money order for Canada from the post office. It only costs a $1 or so...Rick/Saw ****

Use international money order and it cost me nothing, it doesnot matter where it comes from.

shipping use the mail, ship it by regalur mail , insure it ,put on it Warranty work , repair and return, no problems then , cheap . Ups charges to cross the border , around $24. 56 , puralator does now as well, to me it is just a money grab.
most saws I ship cost around $25 to $30 in canadian money so pretty cheap, normal time is 6 to 8 days to get to me . Ups is not any faster and Rush mail normally takes longer.

My only problem with shipping to Canada is their customs. I swear I believe they try to break stuff. Canada's Customs suck. They make it where its not worth the hassle. I do use USPS all the time for the fact the buyer wants the cheapest fee. Which I do understand that also. They have burnt me several times and most of the time I make it right with the buyer. As far as the taxes go, I dont see a problem with marking the package as a gift and lowering the value of the item to whatever they want. I have shipped alot of places in this world but Canada is the worst for package abuse. I would think that some people do not like shipping to canada due to the hassle it brings them. Just my opinion.

That is why you put repair and return on the box, customs doesnot open it, I have never had a problem with the mail, but I have had problems with UPS,

Heres one for you, i won on Ebay a bar and airfilter assy for a Mc47 for US$ 39-00 but the fella wouldn't accept paypal, So it might be with a very careful eye before i purchase from Canada but if the seller offers Paypal then it's on as this is a great service they offer.

As for the paypal issue a lot of people have some misconceptions on how it works. I gladly accept paypal but not credit cards. Many people think they are one in the same, they are not. I can accept paypal payments free of charge but it the buyer tries to use a credit card then I have to upgrad my account. When your account is upgraded then all payments regardless of type are hit with a fee.

Taxes and Brokerage fees

If an item is more than $15.00 US you get hit with taxes and handling fees from Canada Post. I had an item for $17.50 US and got hit with $5.00 Cad handling fee and $3.60 tax, so $8.60 CAD on an $17.50 US item which I paid $7.50 US to ship already. Also it was marked gift, but if they (Customs Canada) think it came from a business they will taxe it anyway. UPS, on warranty items still want $30 CAD BROKErage fees. (you also pay tax on the BROKErage fee) A neighbor ordered a chimney top damper $190 US, cost $90 CAD at his door. I have had lots of stuff from the US and always get it shipped USPS when possible. I heard that some people refuse to pay when they find out how high the cost is and the hurt the sell (US) Tough game to play.

I have had chainsaw parts shipped to me in Canada from the States using usps, and so far my brokerage, handling and taxes have been a big fat zero. It's a different story for non-chainsaw related items, check with Canada post's website on items that are exempt. I used UPS once to have something shipped up here- never again. Got screwed over royaly with their brokerage fees. Heard the same story from everybody else who had stuff shipped internationally.

The last thing i wanted to do was upset the seller so i wrote and explained and he had a kind ear and the seller didn't leave me bad feedback as i try hard to do the right thing so it seems if these fellas really would like to offer a service that is acceptable worldwide then it be nice to see Palpay on their auction
