was messin with my saw tonight, cut the motor at max throttle to get a plug check. ( New EDM tachometer died ) tell me what ya think.

I think you are safe

its a little hard for me to tell from that picture. It looks a hair leaner than what I run But I run a little rich. I cant tell from your picture if there is a little white on the right of the plug or not. If you have an all white area on a part of that plug I would run a tad richer. But then again I like to run a little rich.

it is a little whiter on the right side. It took an act of God to get my camera to focus for that one pic. I compared to my 034 and my 290 plugs, and its not near as dark. I may be chasing an air leak, trying to troubleshoot as I have posted in another thread I started "moddin my 026 muffler". I replaced fuel line, filter, impulse line, carb. Jst wondered what yall thought by looking at plug color.

OK this is my take and it is only worth what you paid for it--nothing! Would you guys quit trying to relate two stroke and four stroke into related signs/simptoms. The plug readings are different. The honing is different. The excessive smoking means a different thing. The piston clearence/ring gap is different. The carburation settings are different and the maximum RPM setting are way different. Small block chevys cut off at max RPM and having the plug read are not the way to go on two stroke.
Go ahead and flame on me but I have had a couple rum and cokes and felt like giving it out. I can take it. Mike

I completly disagree with you, you should be drinking wiskey and coke and do not post here again till you get it right. Take that:blob2:

PS cheers and have one for me

I totaly agree!! You are FIRED!!! DO NOT COME BACK AND DO NOT POST AGAIN UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT!!!

Was the rum and coke lean or rich?:hmm3grin2orange:

I dont have much experience with rum and coke but I can say you would be a fool to run any setting other than maximum rich for a whiskey and coke. I also recommend the JIM BEAM brand however im not too good for Jack or any Tennessee whiskey. On occasion the off brands may cause a stumble but I have never had a seizure from any of them.

Thats why I asked. I value your advice, Thanks.

Well you guys are all right! I leave myself open for a left hook and all I get is a tip-tap. Where were you guys in the Cahoon/Fales days? Any hoo try some Cuzon 120 and the real thing Smoooooth!!!! Mike

Ray, Coke is for cheap whiskey only. When you have good stuff, either 7up or straight up. Don't post again until you get it right...:D

I like being the "tough guy"...it was my turn, wasn't it?

Back to the subject at hand

2 strokes are way more sensitive to lean, as compared to a small block chevy. As I have said many times. Carhart brown after a few washings is the correct color.I have burnt down enough 2 stroke snowmobile engines to testify in front of supreme court. Plug color is the only way to know forsure what your engine is doing.Unless you want to mount an EGT (exhaust gas temperature ) pickup to your saw.,
Always keep a good used plug on hand to read .It needs a bit of carbon and gunk to show the color. Good luck

That's right, this was about plug color, not about booze. Eric is right. Carhart brown is good, I try to get just a bit darker on the milling saw, but right there on the rest.

Stihl agressive marketing

Im not here to bash any Stihl dealer, but I just called a dealer I was getting familiar with buying from. Just started liking dealing with them. :bang: Called this morning to try to get an air leak test done, and order a new tach to finally chase the bugs out of this 026 I been tinkering with. Anyway, they said they are not going to sell Stihl saws or parts anymore because Stihl set up another place in town to sell their product, therefore making 3 Stihl dealers in a small town. So I guess I get to start over building a relationship with a new dealer. Only good part is I may be able to buy a saw here in the next week at dealer cost, which they say isnt much below list price. Can I sell my wife on that one??? :ices_rofl: Anyone know how much the air leak test kit costs?

seen them on ebay for about 50 - 60$

you can build one for about a third of that or less and it will check crankcases and carbs, Ive describied it before,,, Do a search of my post,,, its pretty simple...........

Ever hear of piston wash? It may help reduce the number of sleds you burn down to look into it.

No no no - that's summer grade. You need rum and soda. Either Doorlys or Cockspur. Any bar length is OK.
