May I suggest replacing that barrell hitch with a spliced eye.. You won't regret it... Kepping that knot on there makes it nearly impossible to pull through tight crotches... a real drawback and time waster....

MB; how about giving this pivotal, simple tool a fair shot for awhile and be our extreme test case?. Kinda like if you could change Mike's mind you must have something good acid test i've tried to invoke sometimes! :Eye:
Siezing the core whipping thru core and cover should help core/cover not to slip; as well as if fused with 'butane backsplice' especially to a fair flair? Tenex is hollow; without this problem i think; also lays flatter gripping self, less leveraged on bend around carabiner becuase of lack of dimension on the flat axis when flat too. It has become my favorite for cords at 3/8-5000#. i don't think you'd fall if some of core sucked in from the end on most 2 legged friction hitches. Seems like if it did slip, it wouldn't walk all the out, and the other leg would tighten up and hold you more; making it less likely weakened leg would totally let go do to less loaded at that point etc. i like my turns layed neatly in doulbe or triple, not crossed.
The triple fisherman's is also supposed to return 100% line tensile(?) to use. i think that would be nullified by the next stage in the cord (as if feeds into friction hitch) sitting at a bent angle; therfore that part of cord system won't be at 100% anyway. So, i think chasing the 100% with triple at termination is a'lil futile as it pushes that part of the chain stronger than the weakest point (bend in same line), even in the Tenex (though less leveraged bend weakening).

If falls couldn't happen, we wouldn't need lifelines.
I'm not quite sure what the red-stuff is on the ultratech, but it looks like "plasti-dip". Perhaps Nick can tell us? This is the first cord I have purchased made rather than making my own. Again, the quality of the work is absoultely outstanding.
This time of year the gear bets pretty filthy, so ropes get washed about once a week or so- daily if necessary. (Especially this week!)
The tress cord picks up alot of crud from the rope; surely that can't be good from a wear standpoint.

Once again Erik, I stand to correct you. The red stuff is Starbright Whip It/Dip It.
I use it on the tress cords to help protect the whipping I do.
