Sorry Gentlemen, apparently I quit getting notifications of new postings into my threads, and I need to figure out how to remedy that. What brought me back into this thread is of course another problem. Today, I got my nice new hank of 3.5mm cord and replaced the starter cord. I had been trying to use the saw a few weeks back and yanked the cord off, it had terminally frayed. I replaced the cord, put the saw back together and after a few pulls, the RECOIL SPRING BROKE. If it had been one of the ends, I am sure I could have heated, re-bent, and kept using it, but it broke about a third of the way from the end.

Does anyone know of a source for getting a replacement recoil spring for this little saw from the points/condenser era? Are there some known substitutions that are usable so I can broaden my search? I don't want to put this little saw on the shelf, and I really do like it, and it is my only climbing/tophandle saw.

I found "a ton" of stuff on Chainsawr, but when clicking on the links, it says the parts are sold............somebody tell me the merits of doing this (GRRRRRRRRR)........if it's sold, please pull the ad!!!!!! I did find this one http://store.chainsawr.com/products...rewind-spring-new-replaces-part-1116-195-1600
but it doesn't quite look like mine, but I don't know if that's just a "stock" photo, and not the real part I'm getting. I don't have a way of verifying the part number independently, though there was some cross-referencing to a variety of other 2 stroke products that use this part. If someone knowledgeable can tell me it's good, I'll buy that one. Otherwise, if someone has a drawer full of them, LMK. I am actually capable of rewinding those things when they sproing into bird's nest coils, but it requires a few of my special swear words and a few zipties, etc.

Stihlboy and Laser, I hope you found solutions to your inquiries, seems I was pretty worthless on that one. I'll figure out the problem with my alerts.

I asked Chainsawr parts about the appearance of the photo, and they said it was generic, but the shape of the ends was accurate. The ends do not match my saw recoil spring, so they recommended a different PN which was 1114 190 0600 and the ends for that do match mine. The description of that part's application listed 020, 020AVP 015 AV 015, 010, 010 AV, 011, 011AV, etc. The part was $9.95 with almost the same for shipping out here to the Sandwich Isles, so I bought it and when it eventually shows up, I'll let you know how it works out. Maybe some more pictures, but I'd like to get this saw back to work, hopefully but the 20th of this month, but I know that is really really dreaming.
I think everyone would laugh at my techniques for tensioning up the spring into a small coil, holding together with zip ties and dropping it into the starter frame. I suppose there are better techniques for this, I just go with what has worked for me in so many other applications. Sometimes of course requiring special swear words.
