mines a 046 , older one , im pretty certain its got a pretty aggressive curve

It does not have a curve, that is why it is harder to start. The fixed ignition timing is advanced to run strong up on top. The tradeoff is that you have to pull it like you mean it, or be bitten.

Whatever you do, do not try to start an 056 mag

hey saw doc...i thought the 460 used the 1122 400 1314, same as 660 which has a curve to compensate for the poly flywheel...you just blew my mind

Dangit! You're going to make me actually look it up.... Either way, the coil is not likely the problem if it runs properly otherwise.

C&P'd from JJ's TP ad for his 046.

It has the early, desirable 046 cylinder with the D-shaped combustion chamber and good port timing. It also has the desirable early ignition with the aggressive timing curve.

The 046 does use timing advance....

If his coil is stuck in advance mode (yeah it happens) that could be his trouble...

I think JJ said the early ones did but not the later years.
10-4...all I can look up is the 1314 coil for the 046/460 which is off a newer ipl...ill have to dig around and see if I have an older ipl...again...mind...blown

We had a 088 that had a stuck coil a while back. The damn thing ripped some tendons in my wrist.

yea I seen his add...wish I had the money...he said it had a 1128 400 1309 coil on it...that must be nla because I have no info on it...jj is the man.

I'm going to need some humble pie I guess. I was thinking they switched to the -1300 coil that is on everything else. Looks like Randy saved the ship though.
