Looking for every possible 24 inch bar chain combo that fits an Echo cs-680..

read a little about stihls bars on Echo but not enough info available..

Any suggestions on 24 inch bar chain combos to fall n buck doug fir on cs-680 ??

Is powermatch the best made specifically for this application ?

With echo's 8mm studs the D176 echo mount is your best bet. Small stihl bars are 8.2mm, and usually set up for picco chain.
Small Husky bars are also 8.2mm. You can make a set of stud bushings for your saw and drill oiler and adjustment holes in either bar, or any bar for that matter, but that usually doesn't work as planned. Oregon makes the Echo branded bars as well as their own powermatch label. Same bar, different price. If you aren't using the saw for wages you might look into one of the other brands from across the sea. I hate to point in that direction but D176 mount bars are very expensive any other way.

The Stihl bars are not the way to go without needless work. 9/16" slot is a terrible fit for your 5/16" studs. You'd have to make stud spacers, and also make sure the adjuster pin and oiler holes line up.

24" 3/8-.050G Powermatch bars are still being produced in the D176 mount that's the perfect fit for your Echo CS-680. 81DL is the chain length. They don't cost any more then the Stihl mount bars, and are as easy to get through any Oregon dealer...

Edit:

I see SF was typing faster than me. He also addressed the small Stihl bars, rather than the 12.1mm stud bars I was thinking of. Those small Stihl mount bars are the wrong way to go for the reasons he mentioned, plus the tail profile is wrong for your Echo. I doubt you could find one of these longer than 16" anyways, or in 3/8" pitch (not Picco)....

K095 'small Husky' bars do have the right stud slot size, but the tail profile is again wrong for the Echo, and the adjuster/oiler hole issues would need to be addressed. Again..............just the wrong way to go.

D176 bars aren't any more expensive than D025 or K095 bars. I don't see the need to go those routes here at all.

84DL is the 'standard' loop length for Husky/Dolmar and Stihl saws running a 24/25" cut length bar. 81DL is the 'standard' loop length for Echo/Poulan/McCulloch 24" cut length bars. Talking 3/8" pitch chain of course. Oregon makes the D176 bar in an 81DL length. They also make 81DL loops.

Just found the GB bar you were talking about on the site you mentioned. That's either a typo or a non-standard length (84DL) bar for the Echos. Could be either. You're not going to find any manufacturer that's going to make both an 81DL and 84DL bar for the same mount. It'd make no sense...

Thanks I hear ya but oregon does make 84 dl hardnose bar for d176 mount, but I read that is a setup for primarily dirty wood.

I have both the 81dl and 84dl bars for my 670. The D176 was a little more popular once and the 84dl are for some of the other saws that ran it. Here are some pics of the difference:

The GB you were looking at is a good price, and it will guide a chain as well as any other brand. If I needed another bar I'd give it a shot.
