Stihl is WAYY better than Huskie

Asked my friend for his dealer prices.

If he gives them to me (not sure he will ) will log in under a new user name from a internet cafe and post them.

Time for the BS to end maybe.

Wood how much crow can you swollow, I hope its alot. If you get the actual dealer costs on Stihl you are going to see with your own eyes what Lake and me tried to tell you, average mark up is about 20%. So you get those prices and enjoy your crow,

Haha, sure. Ya know Wood what the best thing about Stihl is, you don't have to buy one and better yet no one cares. See when your No.1 in the world Stihl doesn't have to kiss hiny and cut throat prices on the net or in the mail or box stores with no service to sell. Now remember no one is gonna twist your arm if you think the prices are too high, you mosey on over to whoever and be happy. Your just one face among millions, no big lose.

Yup...well said. My favorite Stihl saw shop owner around here has a thriving business and he's a long way,a damn long way, from being rich. I've been to his house and I know what he drives. If there was as much markup on everything that some people think there is I'm sure he'd be living better. He pays his help, most of them with him a long time, a good wage. He does quality work and backs it up. But getting rich from high markups? No. Not even close.

Good post Bob as always. I don't know where Wood gets these ideas from but I hope he gets his dealer costs. If he does he sure as hell isn't gonna like em, they will show he is merely wrong.

The mark up on a saw is really small and this isnt supprising IMO.
What I would like to know is what Stihls makes on a MS260 made in Virginia Beach. I bet they are making a killing given the tooling was amoritized years ago and the labour in VB is much cheaper than that in Germany.

FWIW a few years back GM cleared about $15,000 on each Suburban they sold. The dealers if the sold at MSRP made a small fraction of that.

I'm sure they make a healthy profit, but it's not because of the tooling. - that gets replaced regularly. Can't remember the exact number but it's only a few 10's of thousand per tooling set on the plastic parts, and less on the mag.

I ran this 441 that I have again today. With all the saws I have I like to keep a little rotation going.

The more I run the 441 the more impressed and happy that I bought the saw!!!


For Stihl's first attempt at a production strato-saw IMO they got it right!!!


Now............if I can get a higher output oiler for it!!!
